I had a great time on my afternoon ride down the river with Guide, Owen. He has a great way of passing the time down the river, explaining landmarks and telling the history of the areas we were passing. He allowed me to help steer the raft as we went through the rapids--which were not at their peak like in the Spring Run Off--that make the experience that much more fun. Following the trip, I got my pictures--for FREE--which most rafting companies charge so that is a big plus. This is a great Family rafting trip. Young and old can enjoy this experience, it is Not life threating--but you will get wet from the cold water as you pass through the limited number of rapids. Finally, finding the launch location can be challenging if using your Apple Maps--it was incorrect when i plugged in the location. Their web link is via Google Maps on the phone. Worse, I had no AT&T service driving through the mountains, so I arrived late after missing the turn off by 20 miles, but they accomodated me which I greatly appreciated.

Fun, safe, professional, we LOVE NUO
Toni and Dustin were absolutely incredible! I’ve been rafting a couple of times before but only enough to give me a point of reference, and they were GREAT. Friendly, knowledgeable, fun, safe, the works. I can’t speak highly enough about this outfitter. If you’ve never been, or if you’ve been a hundred times, NUO is the group for you. Personable and professional, everyone will have a good time. They have everything you need and will turn themselves inside out to make you comfortable. THANK you Dustin and Toni! We’ll be back!

Amazing Rafting company! Great guides! They provided everything and THEN some! They think of everything! Even taking videos and photos so you can enjoy the moments! Brad was a great guide! Worth every penny we paid!

Great afternoon of wet and mild rapids
Pros: enthusiastic, friendly, knowledgeable, conscientious owners!! Focused on safety and delivering interesting local history and information about the wildlife and fauna. Felt very safe. Dustin guided the raft with expertise and ease! Water was freezing but the sun was warm. Paddling was not difficult. Raft holds six passengers and a guide. We wore life jackets and optional helmets. Small mesh bags on board to secure your water and a snack. Expect to get wet! August water was pretty calm. Our guide and owner took a few photos and shared via airdrop. The other owner took a few from the river bank to email to us - super nice touch; very appreciated!! Amazing blackberry picking in the boat launch parking where we met up. Cons: pit toilets; launch site steep and rocky for getting into raft; hazy conditions from Middle Fork wildfire.

Experience Beyond Excellent!!!
Dustin and Toni (new owners of the North Umpqua Outfitters) are as amazing as the rivers they raft on. Our raft trip last Tuesday (June 2024) was so much more than I thought was possible. Dustin took myself and a friend white water rafting on the North Umpqua River from Horseshow Bend to the Gravel Bend take out. The trip was a total of 7 miles and we went through at least ten rapids (class 2 and 3). It was an exciting and information filled river trip. We learned about the surrounding countryside, people who founded the area, native birds and plants. The safety review Dustin gave us before the ride was enought to scare me, but not enough to petrify me so I could not enjoy the trip. I felt I had a guide who would care of us "IF" something happened and I knew what I should be doing. Dustin made the trip safe and FUN!!! I spoke with Toni and her daughter several times on the phone before we arrived. They were very kind and patient with my questions and gave me great information. Their website makes it extremely easy to learn more about their family, where they offer trips, book your trip and pay. I unreservedly and whole-heartedly recommend North Umpqua Outfitters to anyone looking for a great time rafting on the North Umpqua River and beyond!!!!.
