Colin Preston has over 20 years of experience fishing in the Pacific Northwest.
From January through March, you’ll fish in the drift boat on the Oregon Coast or in the Clackamas river chasing winter steelhead. April through July is spent in the sled following spring chinook salmon in the Willamette and Columbia rivers. If ocean conditions cooperate, Colin likes to target rockfish, ling cod, and Dungeness during this time too. August is Buoy 10 in Astoria. During September and October, he follows the salmon up the Columbia river until it starts to rain. When the rain comes, he’s usually back in the drift boat at the coast up until around Thanksgiving. He’ll bounce around a bit in the Columbia from September through November to chase coho too.
