My family climbed at Smith Rock with Chockstone on a thankfully partly cloudy August day. Daniel was our guide for the full day outing and he skillfully worked with my inexperienced children and my friend and I who had a bit of sport rock experience. Daniel made it fun for everyone and we had a great time. Organizing the trip was easy and Anne answered any questions we had quickly. I highly recommend Chockstone if you want a great experience with a pro guide at Smith Rock.
We had a great day with Evan climbing at Smith Rock. Evan was very knowledgable and personable and a great instructor for inexperienced climbers like us. Would highly recommend!
We had a great time climbing with James at Smith Rock! We were in the area on vacation during peak wildfire season so up until the day of it was touch and go whether we would go; the proactive communication on this was much appreciated. We would have been disappointed had we not been able to go, but we would have been understanding as it was out of their control. Luckily the AQI was within reason and we were able to go. (Interestingly it did get bad while we were out there and James would have been within his rights to say we had to stop, but he didn't, and we had a great time still!) We are recreational indoor climbers (bouldering) so we weren't novices but we also had only very very limited outdoor experience. It was far more challenging, in a good way, than anticipated. It was an incredibly rewarding experience. Not a ton more to say - we'd love to climb with James again ! Fully recommend.
Daniel was the perfect guide for my family to get an introduction to climbing. He brought a selection of shoe sizes so the kids could just get just the right fit, chose great routes to build their confidence, and found a shady spot so we didn’t get sunburned. I highly recommend you ask for Daniel: he deserves a raise!
Naomi and Jim were awesome. Super knowledgeable and fun! With our mixed group of little kids and adults they some kept us all engaged and challenged. Cannot recommend them enough!
