Condon

Condon is a Norman Rockwell–esque small town that sits atop a high plateau just 53 miles south of the Columbia River Gorge.

In February, the entire town celebrates its Nobel Laureate Day honoring two local Nobel Prize–winning residents. Fossil, located just south of town, is like a John Wayne movie set. Dig fossils at the high school or begin a tour of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. Discover the Oregon Paleo Lands Center for regional natural history displays, maps, guides and travel advice, with scheduled and custom trips for all ages.
