Lincoln City KOA

Start with a hearty breakfast from Mel’s Kamper Kitchen. Then hit the beach, Devils Lake or the Lincoln City Kite Festival (there’s one in Summer and one in Fall). The area boasts miles of soft beaches, perfect for whale watching, lighthouse touring and glass-float finding. Yes, the “float fairies” of the Lincoln City Visitor and Convention Bureau hide thousands of handmade, multicolored glass floats along the beaches. You’ll find the same beautiful floats for sale in the campground store. At the end of the day, “float” on back to KOA, close enough to the Pacific for easy access yet inland enough to avoid coastal fog and wind. Pull-Thru RV Sites now have 50-amp service! Enjoy a barbecue and local Tillamook ice cream.

This KOA is near the Lincoln City Outlets, Chinook Winds Casino Resort and the Spirit Mountain Casino. Max pull thru: 65 feet. Your hosts: Heidi and Steven Long.

Best campground around

One of the nicest campgrounds I’ve ever been in. All the tent sites were taken, but they allowed me to stay in an RV spot. A bit pricey, but well worth it. This KOA also has a kitchen that serves breakfast in the morning from 7 to 11. Sparkling clean restrooms. Beautiful Playground for kids. Several employees to help when needed.

Felt like camping on the streets of Portland but less welcoming

Worst camping experience in 10+ years of camping with my wife and kids. Sites weren’t even close to level for our jack system to get the RV level, so our doors would not stay closed. To our surprise we received a noise complaints against us over an hour before quite time. We were then asked to leave when we tried to discuss how we were being loud by simply bon firing and roasting s’mores with our friends and family That didn’t go anywhere and as soon as I told him I would not be able to leave that evening because we had a few drinks already he call the police! The police arrived and we were able to stay the night but were required to leave the next morning. We gladly did. Not the way we wanted to spend our kids last day of spring break. Homeless encampments look like this place. See my pictures below.

Why the 3 star review?

My sister and I stayed at this KOA for 1 night. The site (full hookup) was lovely, They had an ice cream social that was great, and the cafe for breakfast was also great. Why 3 stars? The shower was rather dirty. But the main issue is when I plugged in my surge protector it did not give the normal 3 green lights, including the surge protection. The office sent out a guy to look at it, he checked it and claimed he couldn’t find anything wrong with it, but also agreed that my surge protector indicated not normal. He told me “he’s not an electrician and they would need to have an electrician look at it”. At that point I did not plug into the electric since I didn’t want to risk damaging the very expensive electric system in my van. I called the office and asked for a discount. Their opinion was the electric was fine. They offered me another site which I refused (didn’t want to move at that point), and they refused to give me a discount. The rate for this site was over $80. BTW the next night my surge protector was working fine, so the issue was NOT with my equipment. Thus, the 3 stars.

Lacking adequate security

There were a large number of families spread throughout the park that were there for a local young-teen sport tournament. Families let children/teens run wild throughout the day. Long awaited 10:00 quiet time arrives, and NO visible park presence to address the amplified music, yelling, running children etc. Park management indicates in later email exchange that "Our night security person was on site and did work diligently to dissolve the groups making noise. Unfortunately there were more than he could handle alone...". We were outside the entire day and evening and saw NO evidence of the gangs of kids and amplified music, etc being addressed by the park staff/security even after the 10:00 quiet hours timeframe. At 11:00 pm we made the decision to leave and were off the property by midnight. The issue was still ongoing at that time. The fact that management acknowledged their security person was overwhelmed and adequate actions were not taken at that point is alarming. I am willing to pay KOA prices for the security that a controlled facility provides. Unfortunately what we experienced was not safe. An overwhelmed security plan is NO security plan. We like the location of this park and the care the management gives to maintain the grounds, etc. This is why we have gone back multiple times. But security issues trump all that. We will not be returning.
