Tried to have lunch here. Needs a big overhaul!
We went to Fish Lake Resort for lunch after Ziplining. Prices were fair. The location is pretty. The restaurant service was incredibly slow and horrible. One drink ordered didn't arrive with the rest. We ended up grabbing it ourselves as the server didn't come back with it (until much much later). Fortunately they had their bottled beer inside an accessible cooler. We had to serve ourselves refills of drinks since we servers were inaccessible. They tried to charge us 25 cents for a smallish plastic glass of water that no one had ordered but someone decided to drink since it was placed on the table. Food was so-so. Some people's fries came to the table cold. The curly fries I had were good despite being lukewarm and something I hadn't ordered. I asked for a vinaigrette dressing. I was told they had balsamic. It ended up being pure balsamic vinegar and not a dressing. The servers couldn't remember orders despite having them in writing. We told them we wanted separate bills. They said that would be split at the end. When we finally got to that point, we had to let them know what we had ordered on two separate occasions. The place appears poorly kept up. The table we sat at had cracks all over the surface and it wobbled significantly. One in our group said the toilet in the men's room was also very wobbly.

Terrible experience
Our family rented a cabin for a week in the summer of 2026. The cabin was a wreck. Smashed electrical outlets with live wires visible, a small child could have easily been shocked. The breaker box is also opened and exposed to elements, our power would flicker on and off throughout our stay. Cabin was missing 2 light bulbs and 3 light bulbs mostly burned out including the bathroom where it was so dark we couldn't see. We asked in the office on day one for more light bulbs to replace the bad ones and we were told the resort had ZERO light bulbs available, but some would be given to use the next day. None we given during the entire week, we had to get a family member to drive out and give us bulbs. The wifi in the cabin involves a cable hanging out the ceiling, wrapping around a wall and plugged into an already smashed access point behind the couch. They do NOT clean under the beds, it was absolutely disgusting (we asked a manager if she inspects the cabins and she said no). There is ZERO air conditioning, net even a small wall or window mounted unit, not even a simple desk or box fan... There is a fireplace with a remote that has a thermostat on it, and that thermostat registered 90f during afternoon hours. There is a screened off porch you're supposed to sit in during the day hours apparently, except ALL of the screens looked about 20 years old and were almost completely ripped off, they did nothing to stop the bugs. There is a sign by the kitchen sink saying "don't dump oil down the drain, use the can provided under the sink"... there was NO can. Also, the sink literally dumps onto the ground behind the cabin. We had a manager come look at it and she said it "wasn't her problem" and to talk to the owners. The ground where the sink is dumping onto is about ~100ft where springs feed into the lake... A major environmental problem. Also, the resort has been telling people the lake is mostly full, when it is almost completely empty, water levels are extremely low. The shore is almost exclusively deep muddy muck or lava rock. This place is horribly managed. The head manager has a serious attitude problem as well. I happen to have been at the front desk when someone called, she answered and it was obvious the person was complaining. She literally just laughed and hung up on them. Then sarcastically said to me "He just threatened to have me shut down. okaaaay buddy. oookkay" and then laughed some more. Avoid renting cabins here. I can't believe I wasted over $1000 on this dump, all around a terrible experience.

RESTAURANT--TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE TODAY
RESTAURANT--TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE TODAY This restaurant seemed very promising. Our server greeted us as soon as we sat down, off to a great start. My partner ordered the burger with no sauce and even told the server to make sure it had no sauce. Somehow he still received a burger that had sauce on it. We did not have time for a remake so I returned his uneaten food and asked for it to be taken off of the bill. Another individual, presumably the manager, came out and asked "what's the deal with the mayonnaise? You're the second person this week." She then told us she would absolutely not take his meal off of the bill, stating she was too small a business and was already "out the food" and she would make us something different at no charge. This made no sense to us as she would be out the food regardless in order to do a remake, and asked again for her to remove his meal from the bill. She then repeatedly called us unkind for insisting she take it off of the bill. We ended up paying the full amount even though my partner returned his uneaten food. The lake was great.

Worst resort I’ve ever been to!
We have been to Lake of the Woods several times so we thought we would try something different. We went to Fish Lake and stayed in a cabin for 3 nights. The place was filthy!! Wiped up some water on the kitchen floor and the paper towel I used was absolutely black! The dishes in the kitchen had to be washed before we could use them! The cafe’ looked filthy so we made our own food. The people who worked there were very unfriendly except Mike on the dock who was a gift!! I highly recommend you think twice before you venture to this resort. I have camped my entire life and, this place, by far, is the filthiest place I ever stayed and the staff was unfriendly (except Mike). You have been warned 🙀

Owner just wants your money!
First let’s start with how gorgeous this place is with a rustic feel loved that. Plus mostly the staff I spoke with were very friendly and pleasant. However, we purchased a cabin with twin beds and a small kitchenette it was very adorable, but right away the sink had issues. We checked in at 3pm and by 7pm we were going to have to wait until the next day for it to be fixed. The handyman there was super nice and really did his best so we said okay sure. Next day hours go by and we still don’t have a sink it’s basically useless. We have a discussion with the manager or person in charge who agrees to upgrade us to a different cabin. 4hrs later he says the owner said that something is wrong with that cabin and we can’t have it. I said well let’s go see, that was a no go! So the owner doesn’t care about your money you spend as long as they get it. We decided to get our money back and leave. If you don’t care about giving your money away and paying people who don’t care about your experience then go ahead and stay!
