SO WONDERFUL!!!!

We are a family that LOVES getting out and doing things in our own backyard. Native to Oregon we decided to go to Camp Dakota for 5 days in July. I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH!!!! Family owned and beyond what I could have imagined! Online booking took me a couple phone calls to understand, but the way they “schedule” the events, is really cool and professional. It’s a great system, trust the system and just call if it’s confusing. This is the coolest place tucked away in this tiny little town. LOVED IT!!!!!! STAFF WAS WONDERFUL!!!! TIP YOUR STAFF!!! What a great place to work in the summer for these young adults! ZIP LINING was worth every penny!!! I have four boys, 7 years old to 17 AND THEY ALL HAD A GREAT TIME DOING THIS. Our instructor (had a Camp Dakota tattoo on his calf) was so cool, funny and overall cared about everyone’s safety and having a good time. He made sure everyone left smiling and everyone really did! I really appreciated his style that he put into the experience!! The kids liked him. ARCHERY was well ran and I felt safe with the no-nonsense “goofing around”. They didn’t allow kids/teenagers to mess around with the equipment. I appreciated that very much as a parent wanting my boys to have a good-safe time. It was awesome. I tipped the most at this station 😉. PANNING FOR GOLD, this would be better with running water, not standing water, but my 7 year old really enjoyed it and we made sure to buy the bag with the arrowhead in it because the office staff made it into a necklace for my son. (ALSO, the kids can earn beads to make a necklace with at the end of your trip. Get the check off list at the office and your kids can collect beads throughout your stay). MYSTERY ROOM was fun and cool for our family. We like escape rooms and this was a cool way to do one while camping. They took an old box-car (I think) and inside made it this cool old western escape room. A little small (our group of 6 was about all I would put in there), but the clues and the gadgets that get set off are really fun and neat. The staff here was so cute and even came in at the end to help us with a couple last clues to finish ❤️ ROCK WALL-all of my boys rock climbed, even the 17 year old! The kids can rock climb all day and it’s free with the adventure wrist band! Very worth it!!! TREE LINE ADVENTURE-They had a side for younger kids and a very challenging one for the olders and adults. My boys said this was really fun, but actually took a lot more strength then they expected! Good workout! They talked about this experience a lot and said it was really fun! PAINTBALL-😬. The outdoor course is pretty cool for the terrain and woodsie feel. It was SO HOT the day we played though (94 degrees/July), I would recommend booking an early session time in hot months. They have misters which helped, but if you wear layers and gear you can imagine how hot everyone gets. I did think the “wait time” in between sessions was too long especially in the heat. It would have been better to keep the games going quicker. Just my thought, but I also don’t play, just watch. Probably not a first-time paintball kind of place unless it’s super not busy and you can ask for one on one instruction. But, my boys played 4 games and LOVED IT-they had no complaints-they were just really sweaty. SHOWERS 🚿- they had showers!!! This was nice, only bad thing, They take quarters only and it’s $.25 cents for 1 minute. There’s also not a way to get quarters after hours. Great amenity though just plan. The camp site areas are far enough apart that we weren’t on top of our neighbors, but the kids made friends and had others to hangout with. We stayed in an RV site with hookups, but there are yurts and normal camp sites. The yurts I heard were really really cool. OVERALL I would give Camp Dakota 10 STARS if I could!! THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE STAFF AND ESPECIALLY Juggernaut who took my 800 phone calls and set us up wonderfully even when we arrived! THANK YOU AND WE WILL BE BACK AGAIN!!!! (All the staff have super cute nick names!). I LOVE THIS PLACE!!! We will make this a tradition!

NOT FOR FIRST TIME PAINTBALLERS

I would like to say before beginning my review that I have attempted to resolve my problem with the camp with no success. I took a group of 15 first time paintball players (all adults over 21) to what I thought was a private 3 hours of paintball play (per the package I had paid for)....I spent a lot of time confirming everything from what we should wear to if we needed to bring any of our own safety items, to if someone would be there to assist in everything since none of us had played prior... Confirmed everything so the day of would be smooth sailing. The day of - WAS A JOKE. We showed up to 3 other "groups" that we were to play with..(again, not what is stated in the Party Package I paid for) There was a video we were supposed to watch that - this was the ONLY instruction from the camp; no verbal directions on how do prep our guns or anything were given by the kids running the booth. NOT ONE TIME did an employee show us how to load our guns, despite multiple in our group asking and reminding them none of have played we don't know what were doing... NOT ONE TIME did an employee offer to show us what to do. NOT ONE TIME did an employee explain the rules of the games. NOT ONE TIME did an employee answer a direct question in regards to safety (ie how our masks were fitting, how to use the safety on our guns...NOTHING) Again, I did reach out to the camp the day after the incident, and they pretty much said they don't care of the safety concerns; they have "too many new people to make sure things are up to par all the time", and that was their solution. I was offered a partial refund in the form of a gift certificate, but when I told them I didn't feel safe returning to their facility they said "oh well that's all we can do". All I can say is I will never return to this establishment. And DO NOT recommend taking kids to play paintball it is a complete safety hazard, and with the lack of direction a lawsuit waiting to happen. Oh, I should also mention you have to sign a waiver to play supposedly (which not all of my people had signed - but they don't check on site so you can play without it I'm sure they won't care...)

Great family adventure!

What a great experience! We would definitely recommend Camp Dakota to anyone looking for a family adventure! There were 15 of us total - 7 children, 3 sets of parents and grandma and grandpa. Our family of 4 (kids ages 10 and 9) stayed in a yurt. The yurts were a lot of fun, a ceiling fan and box fan were provided as well as a power strip for electrical. Tip: bring a folding 6 foot table - we wished we would have had one for more food storage and prep. A wood stove and firewood is available if you were visiting on colder months. We were there for one of the hottest days of the year! Activities: Wow! What a selection! We participated in archery, tomahawk throwing, rock climbing, metal detecting, disc golf, the mystery room (my favorite activity!), the kid's rope course and the zip lines (a must do!). So much fun! The kids never once said they were bored in the 5 days we were there. The kids loved the challenge of trying all of the activities and then getting a bead for their necklace at the end. Also, make sure you order pizza from the store. It was so good! Staff: The staff at Camp Dakota were FANTASTIC! Woodchuck, Robinhood and Specter were awesome during our zip line tour! They deserve a special shout out! Every staff member we met was so welcoming and seemed to love being there. They all made the experience great! I have lived in the PNW my whole life and can't believe I didn't know about Camp Dakota sooner. What an amazing place for families! I will definitely be recommending it to all of our family and friends!

Worst trip ever

The pictures will show and tell you how bad it smelled, not only did it smell it was infested with spiders and webs. Paid for 3 nights ($680.00) stayed only one night, we were bit so bad during the first night that we left .BBQ was filthy, floor was falling through by the wood stove. I emailed Camp Dakota after we checked out and never received a email back.
