Woodsman Country Lodge is easily the best locally owned motel we have ever stayed in, bar none. Friendly folks at check-in and a great country cafe and bar next door started our stay off right. Our room (#1) was clean and had comfortable beds, new (or new looking) tile in the bathroom. “Woodsy” decor, attractively done throughout. But what we really appreciated were all of the personal and thoughtful touches: -A roll of paper towels -Outlet power strips everywhere you might want to plug something in. Not fancy, and simply attached to the wall, but oh so convenient! - Normal coffee maker - Lots of hook’s and places to hang things We pass thru the area once a year or so and have typically stayed in Bend but now will plan the Woodsman.
We stayed here on our trip out west in 95 loved it then and loved it this time . the rooms are nice with good beds and REAL homestyle linens and towels . the room was clean and comfortable . we ate at the Mowhawk restaurant next door . great food there .
Clean and Comfortable
We stayed here for 2 nights as we visited Crater Lake and it worked fine for us. We were 40 miles from the north entrance to the park - so it was convenient. We booked this hotel due to the lack of other options in close proximity to Crater Lake. We were greeted cordially and the check in process was easy and pleasant. Our room was decorated heavily in a woodsy theme as mentioned in other reviews. It appeared clean and the beds were comfortable. The TV’s are very old style and there was a note telling you how to fix a “fuzzy” picture but ours worked fine. We unplugged the air freshener (someone else mentioned in a prior review) as they are not healthy to breathe. We checked out the breakfast and opted to pass as there was very little offered, However, it’s nice that they offer that anyway! Our biggest complaint was road noise. The lodge sits right next to a busy highway and we could hear loud traffic all hours of the night. Fortunately, we were very tired so slept ok. There is no grocery store in town. We walked to a Dollar General, which took all of 3 minutes, and purchased waters. We didn’t patronize any of the local restaurants, but there is a Subway in a Pilot gas station a few miles (maybe 10?) down the road on your way to or from Crater Lake. All in all, it served its purpose for our needs - which was someplace to stay while visiting the National Park. I would stay here again!
The room was fine, and the bed was comfy enough. A very funky decor abounds here in a woodsy sorta way. I kinda liked it. I would stay again if in the area. A pair of bars and a decent restaurant a stones throw away.
Could be worse
The staff was friendly. They were cooperative when we checked in a bit later than their closing time. The room was a tad bit overdecorated, but was clean. The room was stuffy, with excessive use of some air fragrance to blame, and made it uncomfortable to sleep. The mattress was comfortable, but the sheets and comforter were itchy and felt a bit unclean. The only window to the room opens to overlook the central parking courtyard, meaning we couldn't open the blinds for privacy reasons. In the name of free breakfast, there was just a couple of apples, some coffee, some frozen breakfast burritos and frozen waffles.
