We rented two rooms, one for us and one for our guests. Our room was so filthy and disgusting that we checked out and moved nine miles south to a terrific location. The carpet and table were both very dirty. The furnishings were old and appeared to be from a second-hand store. The couch was musty, stained, and with beat-up cushions, and the ceiling had painter's tape in multiple areas, but no fresh paint was visible. The walls were paper-thin; we could hear every word spoken next door. What makes this even worse than the room’s condition is the management’s lack of care for the property; we had the same room that Karol64 rented over 3 years ago (please note that review, also on Tripadvisor). Shame on the property owner for doing absolutely nothing that hints pride in ownership, and shame on the management team for allowing this dump to be in the rental pool. Doing nothing in 3+ years to improve this room after Karol64’s review is exactly why you should pass on The Inn at Otter Crest. Mark R.

This property is comprised of condos that are individually owned, so each is furnished and updated differently. I booked an ocean view room for 2 nights, and was booked into room Q320. Our balcony directly faced the forest, looking over rooftops of adjoining buildings. IF you craned your neck as you leaned over the railing, THEN you had an ocean view. In addition, the room itself was quite downtrodden - baseboards were filthy and in desperate need of paint. All pictures and knick knacks on the walls looked like Dollar Tree specials, and the throw pillows on the sofa were just plain gross. When we complained to the front desk, they offered to switch rooms for us the NEXT day AFTER 3pm. Really? Front desk person had zero personality. Even when we went down to grab a microwave-able something for dinner, she failed to let us know that there were absolutely no eating utensils in the room - not a dish, tableware, glass, nothing. And although we received the exact same email for 4 days prior to our arrival letting us know that the fireplaces were temporarily unavailable, it would have been nice to know that the restaurant was closed for the duration of our stay. The only positive thing I can say is the grounds were very pretty. Would I stay there again? Highly doubtful unless I saw photos of the specific unit I would be staying in.

I was absolutely thrilled with my experience. Beautiful groomed grounds and trails, unique rooms, gorgeous ocean view and stellar beach right down the stairs. It was spotlessly clean and the staff was welcoming. I will stay there again.

Terrible experience, do not go here
Don’t stay here unless you want your reservation that you made months ago and called to confirm the day of check-in to not be honored and be turned away at 11:30PM on a Saturday night after driving 3 hours from your home, where there’s no other vacancy available for miles, and have the staff do nothing to make it right. We had to advocate to get any sort of recompense for our nightmarish experience, and even then it barely made up for the $400 we had to pay for another room Saturday night.

Awful experience
Make sure you double check that you have all your bags when you get to your room! They didn’t let us double check the cart before they left and lost our bag. I now have to replace all they lost which will cost me $300. The pull out beds were broken and unusable. The couches were sunken in and uncomfortable.
