TripAdvisor Ratings & Reviews
The hotel is very nice with free parking. It was not busy and we had the spa all to ourselves. Our room and hot breakfast were prefect. The hotel was busy with five weddings but we never heard anyone when we were in our room.
Beautiful hotel located in downtown Salem. Located within walking distance of the capital the lovely hotel has great accommodations, a great bar and full restaurant . Breakfast was included and it the usual hotel fare, but the fruit and breads were fresh and they have pancake machine that makes pancakes to order and they were good. The staff was friendly and helpful and our room was large and very fresh. We would absolutely stay here again.
Nice hotel in a pretty boring place
The Grand Hotel isn't so much "grand," but it is nice. The staff are nice. The rooms are nice. The breakfast that comes with your stay is . . . nice. Salem is also nice. But you're never gonna write home about this place or about the city. Because this is the classic instance of de Toqueville's observation that "there's just no 'there' there." The Grand Hotel is about what you'd expect from a somewhat above average market place in any city. It's good but generic. There's nothing to set it apart. That's not the fault of anyone there, and everyone there is really (here goes that word again) nice. The thing is, Salem seems pretty white bread, and the Grand Hotel is Salem in a nutshell--pleasantly inoffensive, with maybe a few delusions of grandeur. I could never give this place a bad review, but I can't give it a great one either. It gives you a place to sleep and to keep your stuff, and it's clean and, well, nice. The best stuff around Salem isn't actually in Salem (it's out around Silver Falls and places like that), and the Grand Hotel isn't bad as a home base. But the place and the city aren't much to see. If you need to be in Salem, this is certainly a nice (there it goes, again) stopover. But don't bother with it if you're looking for the hip, the cool, the new, or the adventurous. It's nice. But that's all it is.
Good introduction to Salem, Oregon
This attractive hotel with friendly, helpful staff is close to many things in downtown Salem including various churches and the capitol building. The neighborhood is good for walking. On Wednesdays for some of the year there is an outdoor market with some good food. Check it out!
Great place to stay while in Salem
A great place to stay while in Salem. On-site restaurant was closed on the holiday. The room was very clean and the staff very pleasant and efficient. The only complaint was that the printer in the business center didn't work.
