Quirky gem walkable to the harbor and good food options nearby. Management was very attentive and flexible with a great dog friendly policy. It was also very clean inside. No major issues during our stay. Thanks again!
The best I can say is the bed DID have sheets. Half full bottle of Pepsi in the refrigerator, bath room window couldn't lock and look out to heavy metal screen on the window behind. No Wifi without signing up for Spectrum free trial. Called asked for TV channel listing "We don't have those.' DO YOUR SELF A FAVOR AND MOVE ALONG TO ANOTHER PLACE. We were there a few years ago, older lady ran it. great place.. New owners have ruined it.
To get away from the smoke from all the fires burning in Oregon with one being very near my home in Sutherlin, I called the Salmon Harbor Inn. Skyler was so nice. There was a vacancy and I said I would take it. Just wanted my name and a good phone number. Didn't need a credit card # over the phone. He said he would leave the key in the room and the door unlocked in case he wasn't there when I arrived. I loved the honest simplicity of the owners and the rooms. You don't find this kind of old-fashioned customer service very much and this old lady really appreciated that. Will stay there anytime I go to the coast
Facing a night driving on bad roads ahead in and in bad weather, I chose safety over valor and pulled in here. Surprised at how inexpensive it was, and the night clerk actually asked me if I was a veteran and gave me a nice discount. How often do other hotels ask you if you qualify for a discount? Not a fancy place by any stretch of the imagination, but it was clean, rather large and comfortable. The only drawback I noticed was the absence of a closet which could be easily remedied by a piece of driftwood fitted with hooks to hang on a vacant wall across from the door. Good place for coats, hats, umbrellas, scarfs, etc. If you don't need "fancy" this place will do just fine without draining your bank account.
We were on a drive from Tucson home to Seattle. For our last night we'd reserved a campsite at the Umpqua Lighthouse state park. We arrived fairly late, about 8:00 PM. The campsite was a zoo. Within a 50 foot radius of our campsite were about two dozen people total, half of them noisy kids, and two campsites with a smoky fire. Also a few dogs.We made a co-executive decision to go back out for dinner and on the way see if we could find a motel. Well not too far from the park entrance was this cute little motel. We caught the desk clerk on her way out, and got the last room for $79. It was the "God Bless America" room which WAS a bit over the top but welcome respite. Full size bed was a bit cozy, but beat the heck out of an air mattress in the back of our SUV. Room included a fridge, microwave and coffee maker. One tiny chair was the only seating. There was a TV and cable box but we didn't check it out. Slept like a rock. Left at 9:00 the next morning after a quick breakfast at the nearby bakery.
