Perfect time at imperfect hotel
We had a quick overnight anniversary trip and wanted to be right on the river. Just being so close to the river alone made for a perfect time. The hotel is pretty old. The pool was pleasantly warm, but badly needs to be re-done. The hotel roof looks pretty bad and the gutters look like they have never been cleaned. Our room was clean enough, but the balcony needed some attention as there were several spider webs. With all that said though, we had a great time sitting on our balcony, looking at a beautiful bridge, watching the jet boats run up and down the Rogue River. Just lovely. We had a little fireplace in the room which made it nice in the evening. The prices are pretty high. I had looked at an online special rate, but called the hotel before I booked it. The man on the phone said that the online rate wouldn't guarantee we had a room on the top floor, which was what we wanted as it was for our anniversary. So we ended up paying $20 over the online rate, and it was about $185 for one night, which I think is expensive. With those rates, they should spruce up the place more. Because of COVID, we ordered dinner from the Tap Rock Bar & Grill which is right across the street, and ate it back on the balcony of our room. Wonderful! Also because of COVID, you have to order your breakfast (included in the price) the evening before and go over to the dining room in the morning and pick up your tray. The staff were all very nice. Again, we ate on the deck and enjoyed the river. Breakfast was just okay -- cold bagel, hard boiled egg, small container of yogurt, coffee. But being by the river....How could we not have a great time? It was perfect for us and a great memory.
We are a family of 6...we were visiting family in town. First time to Grants Pass. Found Riverside Inn through a few online websites. Good reviews...I remember reading that we should get a top floor if we want quiet. We finally went back and forth between Riverside and the Lodge...choosing Riverside because it was about $100 cheaper. Come to find out, they both are on the river and were basically across the street from each other. So we went Riverside...We stayed 2 nights at Riverside Inn. Here is my experience... First and foremost, the staff was great! I mean really friendly. I am sure I came across like a grumpy traveler...not on purpose...but I am sure as chipper as they were...I was a grumpy traveler. They honored the price we found online (which was great) and they answered all of our questions that we asked promptly and politely. They also all were wearing masks...which whatever you believe is very nice and professional. They had our breakfast order every morning and were on time and very helpful. I even asked for some plastic ziplock bags at one point and they provided right away. Staff gets a 5 star!!!!! Thanks guys and gals!! Overall...good place. Location good, staff great, food decent, rooms clean but could upgrade a bit. Price was right and our family had a good experience. 4 stars for me.
Hotel not great
We stayed at this property a few years back and while nothing fancy, it was clean and convenient. This time around, it was disappointing. 2nd floor room - beds were very uncomfortable. Bathroom not clean - signs of mold in the shower - carpet worn and dirty. The little coffee pods made coffee that was not drinkable. They did have decent coffee in the lobby. We didn't have their breakfast while we were there.
Great place to stay on the river in Grants Pass
We stayed here for 2 nights on Oct 29 and 30th. The first night we took a first floor room which was perfectly fine, except for we could hear every step the person above us took. We payed a little more to upgrade to a 3rd/top floor the 2nd night and it was worth it. The rooms were clean, the bed comfortable and we really enjoyed the outside deck with two chairs overlooking the river. We wondered if the noise on the bridge might be too loud but the river sound really covered it up nicely. The morning staff, including Jo and the breakfast staff were very friendly, the night gal not so much. The breakfast included eggs, bacon, waffles, cereal and the usual breakfast fare. All in all it was a great place to stay and we would return again while in the area. Loved the Taprock Restaurant across the street! Went there twice.
Riverside Inn has a great location and they make our dogs feel welcome. We walked to our restaurant of choice and to the Rogue Theatre for a show. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The view from the rooms is great and you can hear the river. They have coffee flowing at all times and the breakfast isn't too bad. The only negative is the noise from the room above. We have stayed there a few times. We will go back.
