Not good
While the service was helpful and pleasant, I can't recommend this as a choice unless you have no other option. While there was a base level of cleanliness (no bugs, for instance), the room was unpleasant. The carpet was rough, old, and very stained. We discovered a mismatched pair of shoes under one bed. An oversight like that is distressing -- if they're not seeing an entire pair of shoes, they're not cleaning anything well. The bedcovers were extremely flimsy, and there was a used tissue under the couch. Of the two sinks in the room, one was clogged and very slow to drain. While breakfast is provided, it was sub-par by comparison to other chains that offer a buffet breakfast. The heat/AC unit emitted an unpleasant smell when turned on. This is not an expensive hotel, but it still felt like a poor value given the issues with it.

The Price is right but the overall experience "Stinks"
My husband and I stayed in McMinnville for a couples trip to visit the wineries. We decided to stay at the Red Lion due to the reasonable pricing. The room was standard and comfortable. The cleaning service was not thorough as the maid only made the bed and gave us clean towels, but nothing else. The hotel allows pets, and unfortunately during our stay there was a guest that kept their door open and the stench from that room filled the hallway. That guest also kept smoking at the exit door and that smell also filled the hotel hallway. I complained about it to the front desk and they said they would speak with the guest. The smell never went away, and really just affected our overall impression of that hotel and their cleanliness. We spent as little time in the hotel as possible, and tried to enjoy our trip to the quaint little town.

Surpassed our expectations.
Shout out to Brooke who checked us in -Super warm and friendly! We asked for an extra rollaway bed and they set it up immediately. Kids loved warm cookies at check in!! Pool was heated and warm. Sheets and towels were clean. Room isn’t perfect (mold in bathroom) but it’s totally fine. John was also super nice. Was busy checking people in when I called and still brought us more towels. Went above and beyond. Breakfast was perfect for kids. (They care about waffles and cereal!) we stayed one night and went to wings and wave waterpark which was super fun. I’d recommend this hotel.

Room was good
It was a nice room, but we were unable to get the tv to work. Told the receptionist when we got there and he didn’t do anything about it. Also the pool is not heated so was very cold. And my reservation said checkout was 12 noon when in fact it is not. It’s at 11 and so we got a call rushing us out a little after 11 and I forgot my silk pillow in the process 😩 but room was nice and it smelled good, which is a plus!

Best value and great service
This is a delightful gem, located close to the McMinnville Airport and the amazing Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. It’s quiet, though right off the highway. The room I had was just right: comfy bed, clean and functional bathtub, and great Wi-Fi. Breakfast was ample and tasty. Even the coffee was good and they had real half and half and turbinado sugar, which made me very happy. The staff are great and helpful. I had a glitch with my key and they fixed it right away. You might call first to check on the hot tub and pool. I heard the jets were out on the hot tub and it’s unclear if the pool is heated or not.
