Clean, friendly and easy access to restaurants and the BOATNIK! So much fun!
Amazily very friendly & helpful staff. Rooms were immaculately clean! The swimming pool was closed, but it wasn't the best weather for swimming outside. We received a free-pass to Club NW, not far away and their pool was so warm, we swam for four hours. Loved the recommendation. No complaints whatever, will stay there again.

Clean & Updated but Uncomfortable
My son and I stayed here one night as a late night stop over while en route to California. I booked it because reviews said the beds were comfortable and the rooms have been updated and it wasn’t too expensive for just a few hours of sleep. We called ahead to let them know we would be arriving quite late and were reassured that we could come any time. We pulled in just before 1:00 am and there were several people hanging around outside, maybe having a smoke?, but it seemed a bit odd. We drove the loop of parking and found several trucks parked horizontally and taking up multiple spots. There was exactly one spot left so we lucked out. Our check-in gal was very pleasant and friendly. She said there were no more ground level rooms and there are NO elevators. I’m a terrible packer and my suitcase is huge and heavy. We had to lug it up several stairs and then back down a flight of stairs to get to our room. If you struggle negotiating stairs, especially with luggage, this may not be the hotel for you. The hallway carpeting appeared new but the hallway stunk of someone smoking weed (hate it!) even though the desk gal had told us she “didn’t care what we smoked as long as it was outside.” The room itself was clean and updated. New paint. Modern bedding and finishes. Modern vinyl plank flooring in the bath area. It would’ve served it’s purpose perfectly if the beds had been reasonably comfortable. I thought the bed was terrible. It was very hard and the center felt higher than the edges. It made for a poor nights sleep. (My 21 year old son thought his bed was fine though, so keep that in mind when reading this.) The shower was nice and hot and powerful. The shampoo and such was fine. We arrived very late and were up early but noise from other rooms or hallway was non-existent. Bottom line: This is a no-thrills hotel (no elevator, no breakfast), but it is CLEAN and the rooms are freshly UPDATED. It is also reasonably priced. Front desk staff was friendly. The downside for me was that the bed was very uncomfortable. If you love a very firm bed, though, you might be perfectly happy here.

Employees were very nice
The room was nice. Got a good nights sleep. We were taking a student to the university. It was nice to relax after a long day on the road. We had spent all day driving from SoCal to bring our student to school. We were tired and looking for sleep. We did get a good sleep before we took our student to the university.

Nice rooms!
I was a bit nervous about the stay as I walked into the hallway, there was strong smells of marijuana and stale smoke, but when I opened the door to my room, I was pleasantly surprised. There were no odors inside the room, and everything was new and clean. The sheets were amazing which is a good compliment from me as I am very picky about the sheets. Staff was helpful and friendly.

Not what I expected
Booked a 1 night stay as a mid-point stop for our road trip to Reno from Western Washington. Maybe I've been 'out of the loop' for too long, but I recall when Red Lions were fairly nice places -- based largely on remembering the Red Lion near SeaTac airport many years ago. When we went to our room (#106) I noticed the strike plate in the door jam was loose. When closed, the door could still move back and forth about 1/4 inch. I called the front desk and a lady came down with a screwdriver to tighten the screws. Turns out the screws (which were already oversize replacement screws) were stripped out, preventing them from being tightened. The fact that oversized replacement screws were present would indicate management had knowledge of a problem. Looking closer I noticed the door was cracked/broken near the handle, and the mechanism was dislocated towards the room side of the door which contributed to the loose fit when closed. It was apparent the door had been kicked in (or attempted to be kicked in) or perhaps slammed very hard with the dead bolt extended. The lady with the screwdriver explained that maintenance was off for the weekend and that she would report the problem. She offered to move us to another room which we accepted. We were moved one room over (#107) and the door had the same crack and damage around the mechanism, although not as severe and the door did close securely. We were tired and did not want to move a 2nd time so we stayed. It is, at the very least, unsettling to stay in a room in a strange town where the door may have been kicked in previously. The lady who assisted us, while pleasant, did not seem surprised or concerned. On the plus side, the property and rooms were clean, however the layout and the feel of the property was reminiscent of a Super 8. Another plus is the Corvette Bar & Grill across the street. I picked up a couple burgers to go and brought them back to the room. Their sign reads 'Best Burgers in Town' and they are not kidding! Next time through Grants Pass we will stop to eat there...but we won't be staying at the Red Lion.
