Overlook Motel

The Overlook provides breathtaking views of the spectacular Oregon Coast. Perched directly above an expansive beach, this little gem is an ideal spot for viewing tranquil summer sunsets, as well as majestic winter storms. Whale watching is a popular past time all year long, and the Overlook location offers abundant sightings. Miles of sandy beach are down a stairway. Take a walk in the sand, explore a tide pool, search for glass floats, build a sandcastle, enjoy seals frolicking in the waves, or just inhale the ocean air and listen to the roar of the pounding surf. In every season the Oregon Coast provides a place for reflection and renewal, and the Overlook has been a large part of this tradition for generations of families.

Room #2 - could have been nice - but not!

A cozy little unit - with terrific view!! However, NOT as advertised. The sofa is old and needs stuffing, the 2 recliners don't work at all, the kitchen is not "fully stocked" - 3 dinner plates, 3 wine glasses, plastic drinking glasses and pots and pans are barely there! We stayed here many times in years past and this time were quite disappointed in how someone has let this unit go way downhill. The other disappointing thing is the managers on duty during our stay were less than hospitable - just seemed "non-caring" . Most of the questions we had were answered "I don't know" - It wouldn't take much investment to make this unit comfortable. The location is great, the view is great, the "idea of the Overlook" is quite charming . . . just needs furniture and the "fully stocked" kitchen. Oh and if the manager says your wi-fi isn't working because your room doesn't get good reception, just ask them to reset their modem. They don't offer but apparently they did that as when other guest arrived, the wi-fi suddenly started working??

Nothing compares!

I stumbled upon a listing for this place while I was researching something else in Lincoln City. What an incredible find!! We were blessed to stay in #7, the Penthouse, and our time there completely spoiled us. I doubt we can ever be happy anywhere else again! The price is only slightly higher than what you'd pay for a basic room in a huge, impersonal hotel with a tiny "ocean view". Overlook offers you all the comforts of home and a million-dollar view!! There are 76 steps to the beach... We are already planning our next stay!!

I have stayed at the Overlook several times

I use to stay at another motel in in Lincoln City for over 30 years. Now that I found the Overlook Motel it is the only place I stay. I like view, amenities and easy access to the beach, local business and restaurants that I can walk to. I am also able to take my dog. I have stayed in the remodeled #4 unit and I love it. Wonderful view, deck and comfy chairs.

#4 is Great!

Although there is a very critical review of unit #4 I have stayed in it many times and it was due for some upgrade but I don't believe worthy of 1 star. The carpet has been replaced and there are new floors in the bathroom. The first thing I noticed was the scent of cedar thanks to new wood paneling. There is a new fridge but is a bit smaller than the previous one and they were able to leave the hysterical wallpaper in the bathroom. Still a fantastic and unequaled view!
