The Lodge at Summer Lake features delicious, hand prepared food, clean comfortable rooms and lakeside cabins, the lovely Fireside room for meetings and Texas Hold ‘Em, all with a rustic Western ambiance surrounded by High Desert wetlands for world class bird watching and overlooking the soaring 3000 foot Winter Rim.

We have been going to the Lodge at Summer Lake for a number of years. It is the perfect way to slow down and relax. We stayed in Pine cabin and found it to be clean and furnished with all that we needed. Afternoons were spent on the deck, reading and watching the bird activity on the pond. We had a filling and delicious breakfast in the lodge each morning. The rest of the meals were cooked in our room. Summer Lake is a long way from the grocery store, so be sure to bring food for whatever meals you will not eat in the restaurant.
Nice location, next to wildlife refuge. The cabins are old and not equipped well. The kitchen utensils are terrible and few and far between. The heater keeps the small mobilehome warm but is as loud as a jet engine; turned it off at night for sleeping so down to 50 F at night. The wifi is unreliable and slow. Limited Verizon coverage so the wifi is necessary. The "cabin" had about 1/2" of dust stuck to the wooden walls in the bedroom. Dishes, and especially the dish washing gear were quite dirty. There is a full kitchen but you cannot take advantage of it because of the lack of utensils. The restaurant on site is very poor. Ordered a glass of "Del Rio" wine and had to send it back, must have been opened for a year. Generally poorly maintained inside and out. No table for dining. Uncomfortable furniture. The owners are nice, but the price they charge for such poor units means you should give this one a miss.
Very friendly people who run this establishment. They have a lot of pride in what they do and taking care of their guests. I met them shortly after their vehicle broke down in a different town and they were still cheery and positive about their experience in operating this establishment for quite a while.
We came for a long weekend to enjoy the vast open beauty of the Oregon high dessert. we stayed in one of the seven Motel rooms and our friends stayed in a cabin. The motel room was clean and comfortable. No frills. Cell and wifi service were almost non existent, so don't expect to be able to stream video or work remotely. But that's okay, because sitting on the deck and watching the birds do their thing was the most entertaining thing I've watched in a long time. Use this spot as your home base for hunting, fishing, hiking at fort rock or Crack In the ground, or water skiing on nearby ana reservoir. We will be back.
My wife and I stayed in room #7 on the first weekend in May. Room was clean and decent. Room had 2 queen beds, we felt they were both way to firm for our liking. Our room had snuck view of both ponds, nice bench out front, microwave and small refrigerator. Our main complaint was hearing the people in room next to us. They weren’t being loud, but could hear them talking at normal level. We had dinner and breakfast at the on-site restaurant and it was good and reasonably priced. Staff was very friendly. Located right across hwy 31 from Summer Lake wildlife refuge, very popular for bird watchers. I will definitely return for a boys weekend of fishing or hunting, A nice place to escape life and enjoy a bit of piece and quiet
