Extremely Disappointing
We travel fairly often and rarely leave negative reviews, but this stay was disappointing enough that I felt it was important to share our experience. We booked this hotel based on glowing reviews and nice photos online, but the reality was very different. The property is noticeably run-down, located in a rough area of town, and the interior smelled dirty and musty. When we entered our room, it smelled strongly of air freshener, as if someone had tried to mask odors instead of actually cleaning. The room looked nothing like the renovated photos on the website. The floors and baseboards were covered in dirt and grime, the bedsheets had hair on them, and the desk was sticky. I asked the front desk if we could move to a clean room, but they said they were fully booked due to conferences in town. They sent housekeeping back instead. I stripped the beds to help and showed the housekeeper the areas that needed attention, including the floors. When she ran the vacuum, it literally sounded like rocks were being sucked up, there was that much debris on the floor! Even after housekeeping cleaned the room in front of me, I wiped every surface down myself with disinfecting wipes and still picked up a shocking amount of dirt. Our kids were excited to swim, but the pool was cloudy and the surrounding pool deck was very dirty. Another big disappointment. Sleeping was also difficult. You can hear every footstep from the rooms above, the street traffic is noisy, and the outdated air conditioner rattled loudly. We were also given only two bath towels for our family of four, and one of them was dirty. When I called the front desk, they told me to bring the dirty towel downstairs if we wanted clean ones. I’ve stayed in many hotels over the years and have never been told to come pick up my own towels. The only positives were the full-size refrigerator, a window that opens, decent shower water pressure, and the make-your-own mini waffles at breakfast. It’s disappointing because the photos and reviews online led us to believe this was a clean, well-maintained property. Save yourself the frustration and spend a little more money for a nicer hotel.
