Faded Glory
The Hotel Condon has some advantages, chief among them being the only hotel in a wide area. On the plus side, the place is quiet, the bed comfortable, the room clean. The people who work there are (when seen) nice. The price is reasonable. The antiquity interesting and quaint. There are sitting areas on the second and third floors, with the area on the second floor the nicer. It has a microwave and a Keurig. On the less than plus side, the place is quite worn down: old stained carpet, chips in walls. The staff used masking tape to close the space around the air conditioner. The bed sat on a scuffed plywood box with loose nails needing hammered back in. When we arrived during what was said to be front desk hours, there wasn’t a soul in sight, but the staff did leave a key and instructions. The continental breakfast is OK. A cut below what you get at budget chain hotels. But the dining area, with its antique glass and fixtures, is a pleasant place in which to eat.

Old and Unique
An old but unique hotel in downtown Condon. We parked on the street out front. There are rooms on the second and third floors, and in the middle is a central lounge area with a fireplace, games and books, seating, drinks, and more. The rooms are old, but clean and functional. The building creaks and you can hear people walking around, but it wasn't bothersome. I would stay here again.

A gem of a hotel
I was visiting Painted Canyon and decided to stay at this little hotel. It was worth the 1.5 hr drive. It’s an old-fashioned place but they have done everything possible to make sure the comfort level is 5 star. I walked into a spacious, clean, comfortable room with a well-appointed bathroom — little bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash. Bathrobes, hanging in the wardrobe — and one of the most comfortable hotel beds I’ve slept in. I arrived around 8pm and no one was on the desk. A quick call brought the hotel clerk down and she quickly checked me in (despite an Expedia muddle that had me staying on the wrong date) and showed me around. Each floor on this 3 story hotel has its own lounge area with teas, a microwave and a fridge. Condon is a tiny town, so there’s not much in the way of restaurants. But the hotel has a chef in a few days a week for dinners, and I was in luck, the chef was there. I had the most amazing asparagus and cauliflower soup with delicious home-baked bread. I’m a light sleeper so finding a quiet room can be a challenge. But this hotel might as well have been completely sound-proofed. I slept through the night, which is unusual for me when I travel. The continental breakfast was generous, and I found options for my diet (low-sugar oatmeal, berries and an egg). The drive to from Painted Canyon to the hotel was along the Geological Scenic Highway, and it was breathtakingly beautiful. There are vibrantly colored layers of volcanic ash, siltstone, mudstone, shale and lignite. I continued along that route as I returned to Portland. If you’re facing a choice of hotels around Painted Canyon, I’d highly recommend Hotel Condon.

Lovely stay, with friendly staff.
Stayed at Hotel Condon for one night, lovely historic hotel in centre of small quiet town. Restored/remodeled to bring it back as it would have been when first built. A nice lounge area on 2 levels with comfy seating and coffee facilities. Well presented breakfast area with a good continental selection. Definitely recommend.

Road trip, central location for all the towns we wanted to view,
The the Condon Hotel is a historical hotel, remodeled about 20 years ago. It is nice, the rooms are spacious, the continental breakfast has plenty of options. The hotel has large opened area for reading or visiting on all three floors. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
