Nice hotel, typical HI Express breakfast, price a bit high
Typical HI Express. Clean, good location, but prices are getting up there for the rooms. Breakfast could use some menu changes, and better temp control. River view rooms are nicer than those with parking lot views. We have been frequent guests, but every time rates are getting higher and higher! Avoid weekend rates if you can
My family has a great time at this hotel. We booked the king suite with a king size bed in the bedroom, a queen bed in the living plus a sofa bed. There was a microwave and fridge. The hotel is really clean and has modern decor. The breakfast was the pretty standard hotel offering. The kids loved the cinnamon rolls. There is also an indoor pool, fitness room, and coin laundry. We brought our dog and paid a small fee. The hotel is in a good location by the main bridge and some restaurants. The main downtown is only a mile. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful. We’d happily stay here again because of this five star experience.
River view under the bridge.
I'm almost afraid to bring attention to this place--but it is a nice place to stay in Astoria. Right on the riverwalk trail. Some river front rooms right near the bridge have a slightly obstructed view down river. I love the pool and hot tub; comfortable; good value; outstanding service.
Holiday Inn Express in Astoria stands out from the chain gang
I was pleasantly surprised at the cozy and all around positive experience I had at the Holiday Inn Express Astoria even though I was part of a fifty person conference. The location is wonderful with views of the bridge from each room. There are different configurations of rooms; some have a half wall dividing the bed from the living area (that has a sofa bed) so if a family or 2 couples stayed, they'd each have some privacy. Other rooms had a traditional open layout. Our room was the first type and I will request the other layout next time. Our room was fine, spectacular view, 2 televisions, 2 full length mirrors, an abundance of towels, a coffeemaker, a mini-frig and microwave. I especially appreciated that there were microwavable plates and cups for us to use. Blackout curtains almost did their job. The staff was very friendly and eager to please. There is a small cardio workout room. The continental breakfast was adequate but could use additional fresh fruit, non rubbery hard boiled eggs, and gluten free bread. I appreciated the availability of complimentary daily newspapers including the Wall Street Journal. For the location, value, cleanliness, and service, I will be making the Holiday Inn Express in Astoria my coastal home away from home.
Very nice hotel
Everything about this visit was excellent. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. The room was large, comfortable and included a beautiful view of the river. The bathroom was clean and stocked with plenty of towels. The breakfast was a little lean on healthy choices (not enough fresh fruit) but included plenty of egg and meat choices. I would strongly recommend this hotel as an excellent value.
