Horrible visit
We stayed at Hayward due to numerous medical appointments over two days for my child and the price point was reasonable. Overall this property is incredibly misleading with their photos and videos. Not worth the price. Several of the issues were brought to the attention of the staff with no solutions, they refused to budge and accommodate us. When I asked about leaving the afternoon after the first night I was told “It would be the full day charge because it is too late to clean and resell the room.” Check-in was not smooth. I was told they would charge me plus an additional damage fee, which was not disclosed prior to arriving. I had already been charged through Booking.com and provided proof of doing so however the employee was still not satisfied. I then had to run my card for the surprise fee. I made sure to take photos of all the concerns in the room in the event they kept the fee. I recommend all guests to do the same if you must stay here. I wish I could upload more photos to the review! They clearly didn’t use this surprise damage fee from prior guests of this room towards pet/guest caused damages. Prior to arriving I sent the property a message regarding non-pet friendly rooms. Nobody responded. All three of us have asthma and it’s triggered by animals, dust which I address below. Thankfully we had our inhalers! Room is in need of repairs, and deep cleaning. Spider webs/cobwebs, damaged doorframes, loose toilet seat which caused me to fall off, ceiling was chipped and peeling throughout, horrible smoke and musty smells in hallway and room entry as well as by the sliding door. The, paper thin bedding was dirty and and smelt, it caused me to breakout all over. The frigid hallway temp was an unwelcome blast of cold air each time we left the room and re-entered the building. The loud heating system in the room was not a reliable source of heat. Bathtub is slippery, non-slip tub mats should be mandatory in each room for guests to use at their own discretion. It was also slow to drain, I was standing in several inches of water while showering. Hair on the bathroom walls. Dust galore! From the headboards to the lamps, having a dust allergy made it even more of a miserable stay. The toilet was slow to flush from the start of our stay and eventually stopped flushing the next morning and began to fill to the rim. I contacted the front desk immediately. The employee said “would you like someone to come out?” as if it was okay to be without a toilet. She then said “I’ll see if someone can stop in”. Someone did message me back about the toilet seat but I did’t get the message until we left the property due to not having cell service on the property. Not sure why maintenance addressed the flushing issue while we were gone but ignored the toilet seat. Buildings are not attached to main building and lobby, it’s like an old apartment complex. This made us feel unsafe and uncomfortable, as we were so far from the lobby. It didn’t feel like a hotel at all. To utilize the gym, get breakfast you have to walk down to the main building across the parking lot. Also, there are no elevators, so if you’re on a higher floor you’ll be hauling your luggage up the stairs. Horribly weak WiFi connection and cell phone service was inconsistent. We relied on WiFi for medical related communications. As for the TV it was a large Samsung but channels were unavailable each time we tried to watch it. A message appeared that the channel was scrambled or weak signal Noisy! Guests were coming and going at all hours, allowing the door to the building slam close behind them. Stomping up and down the stairs. The neighboring property constantly had loud thumping music. The disruptions, unclean room, and horrible smells kept us up most of the night which triggered a migraine and anxiety for me.

Great proximity to U of Oregon campus, but expensive and deceptive
The Hayward Inn's proximity to the University of Oregon campus is excellent, and room rates reflect it. The breakfast is good, too, and the amount of dining space is more than enough. In two stays over the past few months, however, the Queen size bed(s) as advertised have actually been Full size instead. Not sure how a hotel gets away with this, but Hayward Inn obviously does since it's totally booked for all high-demand dates during the school year. I likely won't stay there again due to the price and the beds being too small and not as-advertised.

Nice and Clean Hotel in Great Location
Property is clean, well manicured plants, and the outside building looks modern and nice. I saw staff brushing down the side of the building removing leaves or maybe cobwebs. I didn’t expect to see that detail. The indoor pool is nice. Cute modern and colorful decor with large bank of windows. I chose the property based on amenities and having a non-gloomy looking indoor pool with nice pictures of the rooms sold me. The rooms are clean, beds comfortable. There was a few stains in the carpeting, but what you going to do? Something like that can be see. I’m any hotel room. It’s not a ragged looking carpet. There’s a small refrigerator in the room with a microwave and Keurig. Great price for what you get. It looks like a newly remodeled hotel and they did a nice job. Our room faced the creek. Pretty cool view of the water a few steps from our balcony. There were ducks swimming around. Finally the staff was very nice. I was able to check in early and was given a room I’m a nice location. I am happy I chose the Hayward Inn and would stay here again.

EXCELLENT LOCATION TO THE TRACK
We loved everything about this hotel. The proximity to the track, breakfast variations, and friendly staff. However, there is a small vagrant population in the area, to which our car window was shattered due to an apparent break in on the premises. We would still stay here again even though we had an unfortunate incident. We did not feel unsafe or that crime was widespread, but do not know why our car was targeted either.
