TripAdvisor Ratings & Reviews
A thouroughly modern hotel with nice rooms and a friendly courtous staff.
This was our fifth hotel in six days and we were quite pleased with everything. The staff was friendly, energetic, and efficient. Rooms were large and well appointed. The hotel is easy to get to from US 101. It located within a five minute walk of several nice eating places and unique shops. Every step of the walk is level and in a great environment. We didn't stay on the water side of the hotel but wish we had - the view was quite nice.
Highly disappointing! Shame on them
I never review places but this is definitely the exception. This has been by far THE worst stay at a hotel that I have EVER stayed in. Chose Edgewater Inn (Coos Bay) because they have a pool and my daughter loves to swim. We were able to swim in the pool the night of check in but then in the morning headed to the pool but we saw a sign saying it’s closed for painting. No warnings at all!! Not even on the door the night before or website. Then the WiFi wasn’t working and different staff members made several different excuses. WiFi down, ok I understand that happens but don’t tell customers lies and be rude about it! Tonight (around 2120) while doing homework in the lobby, because apparently that’s the only place that the WiFi actually worked, I heard an angry customer talking about the WiFi issue to a blond female. This man was mad, but for very good reasons, he kept getting the runaround. The employee had the nerve to yell back at this man! Meanwhile I’m upstairs trying to focus on school work and my 4 year old is listening to this heated argument. He leaves and she calls the manager (supposedly) and calls this man a name TO the manager and says how she didn’t yell at him, but she did. I’m pretty pissed at this point so I head to my room to get away from it. About an hour later I go back to finish work, she’s STILL complaining! This time another staff member comes in and she starts on about the gentleman from a bit ago. (At 2247) this employee calls him a horrible word that begins with f!!! She’s not quite about it either. I decided to go tell her to quite down and how unprofessional she was, I was definitely heated, but I had enough of her name calling and constant complaining. (I get it, it’s hard when things go wrong and it’s not your fault and people are mad but that is NO excuse for acting this way, especially at the front desk, customers walking around and can hear her because she’s so loud about it.)I got no apology, just a blank stare. I go back upstairs she’s still complains but she finally gets off shift. Then she asks the male upfront working to help with something, goes outside and yells about it even more and so loud I can hear three of them complaining about all the WiFi complaints and pool complaints. She played the poor me, I’m the victim card the whole time, never taking responsibility for her words but o have some recordings so.... no denying it. Oh, and where the hell is the elevator?! Some people have tons of luggage and kids to tote up the stairs
Very pleased with our stay at the Edgewater! The room was very clean and comfortable. The staff were all excellent and accommodating. A nice continental breakfast was provided every morning and did i mention....the bed pillows were wonderful!!
Seems like the nicest option in Coos Bay
We stayed for 2 nights and were happy with our stay. We paid a few extra dollars to stay on the water side, and I think that made a big difference. We took a look at the non-waterview rooms, and they just didn't feel as cheery. Overall our room was clean and comfortable, though not particularly new or fancy. The water view was nice, and we liked having a patio with chairs to sit on. The location is good -- away from the highway, across the parking lot from a nice grocery store. The lobby was comfortable, and breakfast was reasonably good. We'd be happy to stay at this hotel again.
For the price, exceptional value
It's not fancy, but our room was very nice. We had a good sized fridge with freezer unit, microwave, coffee maker. A large sink area and comfortable bed. We only stayed one night on our way to California, but were not disappointed. We did not have a reservation and had no problem checking in. However, we were not there in the tourist season. We would definitely stay there again. For less than $100/nite it was well worth it. Breakfast was adequate, nothing fancy, and the coffee surprisingly good, with real creamer. The hotel is located at the end of a road so it is relatively quiet.
