Favorite Coastal Get Away!

The building 3, top floor, King size bedrooms are spacious with a wall of windows and a balcony facing the beautiful Pacific Ocean! We enjoyed dining on the balcony and on the table in front of the window. With the windows open, hearing the ocean surf was exciting in it's nearness as well as relaxing in its rhythm. Observing the tides rise and fall on the lovely beach just below our cliff was wonderful from our cozy retreat. The beach is Fogarty Creek State Park, a gorgeous natural area of wind sheltering cliffs, soft sand & tidal pools! We had fun splashing around in the motel pool. The water was clean but there was visible black mold on the floor and around the room of the pool. There was some mold issues in one of the rooms, but the capable staff accommodated us with a non moldy smelling room. The window tracks still had mold as did the deck. I recognize this is a challenge due to the proximity to the ocean. On our next visit I will bring a spray bottle of vinegar to kill it, as I have a mold allergy. We appreciated the large mini fridge with a freezer. We tried the restaurant & enjoyed our great server & the ocean view but won't dine there again.

The view is wonderful. The place has seen better days... the buildings are worn out, the pool building is not nice, has what appears to be mold in the corners... there is a locker room smell to the place. The pool was clean. I know how hard it is to clean tunnels in sliding glass doors but it is evident that no one has tried to clean it in a very long time. There was an envelope set on the table just in case I wanted to tip the nonexistent housekeeping services.

The room was nice. Loved that we could bring our dog. The jetted tub was also very nice. The restaurant was awful. Food was like cheap diner food and the service was terrible. Two tables were seated after us and were served their food before us. We waiting almost 30 minutes to finally get our food and it was disappointing. My steak was supposed to be medium and it was very well done instead. I couldn’t even finish it. I had to ask for a coffee refill twice. Nobody asked us how our food was or if we needed anything. I would recommend the room but definitely not the restaurant.

Beware, folks! This is a 2 star "hotel" at best. The reason I'm not giving it one star alone is because the rooms have been partially updated (or at least the one we stayed in). The pool and hot tub area concerning, to say the least. I know for a fact they didn't fully clean our hotel room before we got it, because there was someones back scratcher still in the bedroom. There are cobwebs in the corners of the walls, our feet were filthy nearly immediately, leaving me to believe they didn't even mop. There was one tiny hook on the back of the bathroom door for a wet towel. There are no towel racks in the living area, but there's a sink and no place to set the crappy bar of hand soap. There's damage to walls where art used to be, but painted over....terribly. The window sills are disgusting. And in rainy Oregon, how is there not a place to hang a wet jacket? The towels are thin and cheap - they feel like sandpaper. The pool area has zero towels available. There are no rugs, throw pillows or extra blankets like you may see in their pictures. It's terribly deceiving. Complete chaos. I'm not sure how they're still operating under these conditions to be totally honest. Great views, sure! But go in planning to be disappointed and you'll be fine.

Water issues

Had a two night stay here. This would've been a 5 star review if not for the water issues we had. The room, bed, and view were nice. The staff was friendly. But the first time I drank the tap water, without looking at it first, I almost gagged. It was horrible. Then I looked and saw it was a light orange color, reminding me of the time I had blood in my urine from a kidney stone. There was a vending machine nearby but I didn't feel like I should have to pay $1.75 for 20oz of drinkable water so I went to the front desk and informed them of my concern. I got the feeling I wasn't the first lodger to do this. I was directed to the bar where the friendly bartender gave me four bottles of Deja Blue. The next day we went into Lincoln City and just bought a gallon of drinking water. Now, the jetted tub. One of the main reasons we booked a "Deluxe" room was the jetted tub. Aside from the fact it was not as large or comfy-looking as the one pictured on their website, the water was barely past lukewarm, even when the "hot" only was running. And it ran so slowly into the tub that by the time it reached the jets the water had turned cold, rendering the thing we'd been most looking forward to useless. The water may have turned us orange anyway, so that's probably okay. Now, the shower. For some reason the shower had plenty of hot water, which was great. The hot/cold indicators on the handle were reversed but we figured it out. However, our particular shower (room 57) had so much water pressure that the (non-adjustable) shower head was shooting out laser needle daggers of water, and every time a laser needle dagger hit my lips, nipples, or manhood, it was very painful. The LND's would bounce off my shoulders and back with such force that it went spraying over the top of the curtain and soaked the whole bathroom. And the lip of the shower floor was so shallow and the curtain was so poorly hung that water just ran out all over the bathroom floor. And there was no place in the shower to set down the soap, shampoo, etc. Nothing. Just flat walls. Had to set everything on the toilet tank and reach out to get it. Maybe spend a few bucks for a cheap plastic shower caddy to hang on the shower head? Just an unpleasant shower experience. This older place definitely needs an update to its plumbing system.
