The review title may be misleading. Cannery Pier's location right on top of the Columbia, with the 4.1-mile bridge in full view, is indeed, in my opinion, its greatest asset. But the place has much more going for it, from the end-wall of windows through which you can take the view in any time, to the little balcony where you can get even closer, to the immaculate and tastefully appointed room, to the bar/dining area where you can enjoy $25 worth of food and drink each evening as one of your perks as a guest, to the custom-made omelet in the morning and the fresh-baked cookies in the evening (more perks), to the friendliness of all the staff, to the museum-quality history exhibit on the second floor. The one small shortcoming I can think of is the want of a truly comfortable chair.

A True Vacation Experience on the Columbia River
Cannery Pier Hotel & Spa is a fantastic hotel. Every room has a view of the Columbia River and the entire staff is friendly and professional. They take time to remember who you are and make sure all your needs are taken care of. Room prices are very fair and the hotel is located within proximity to all sorts of great things to do in the city. Their shuttle service uses the classic vehicles, including a Rolls Royce, which make you feel like you're really living it up! Nightly cocktail hour is tended by an excellent bartender who makes a killer old fashioned. It is a great space to wind down at the end of your day. The spa service does exactly what it's meant to do- rejuvenate you, whether to kick off your vacation, ease physical tension after all the activities of the day, or just pain or you in a good mood. The next time I visit Astoria, there is no question this is the hotel I would stay at.

A remarkable stay!
We loved the two nights we had at The Cannery Hotel and Spa and would return in a heartbeat! From the kindness and geniality of the front desk personnel, to the thoughtful amenities and details in every room, we couldn’t have asked for a better hotel. We loved watching the ships, wildlife, and boaters going by, especially with the binoculars provided in the room. We took advantage of the soaking tub as we tracked ships, sat out on the balcony as a sea lion swam by, and witnessed two of the most beautiful sunsets we’ve ever seen. Just amazing!

Beautiful and unique hotel
Cannery Pier is a a beautiful and unique property. The rooms are lovely and well appointed and have fabulous views of wildlife and the river. I’ve returned many times and it never disappoints.
