Astoria’s largest and most iconic waterfront hotel is committed to doing everything possible to ensure that your stay is a memorable one. Built in 1968 and formally known as the Red Lion-Thunderbird Motel Inn, the Astoria Riverwalk Inn was the first waterfront hotel in Astoria.
Each of the Inn’s 115 spacious rooms offer their own deck with commanding views of the active marina, Astoria-Meglar Bridge, and the majestic Columbia River.

The settings for the tub/shower were hot or scalding. The manager, Barbara, accused me of calling her maintenance person a liar when I complained that I could not run a bath for my two kids, or take a shower during my stay, because the water was too hot and there was no way to get cold water out of the faucet. She said it was a case of user error and that I was wasting her time by complaining about this before hanging up on me. I would say that the photos of this hotel are outdated at best, or disingenuous. The facility is pretty shabby and is way past its prime and is in need of a refresh. The rooms are not at all as pictured. The rooms and furniture are old, worn and outdated.
Don’t. Just don’t. For the price, stay in a good hotel 6. Especially in the winter. The room was freezing although it did warm up in the room with the bed, the floor I. The bathroom remained freezing. The rooms are OLD. Maybe they have remodeled ones, but that wasn’t clear on Expedia. Truly, truly disappointing for the price point. I really blame Expedia as the write up there led me to believe this would be a much better experience.
The view is amazing but is more of a motel than an inn. It can definitely benefit from a good updating. The breakfast was good but our room smelled stale. Bed and pillows were good and comfortable. The area around the motel is a little run down but we had no problem at all.
This room had no heat, no bedspread, falling down curtains and the worst view (at the corner of the L of rooms) that showed more rooms rather than marina or any of the Columbia River or bridge) despite the Inn having low occupancy both nights. To the staff's credit, when we told them there was no heat, they investigated, found they could not fix it and gave us the choice of leaving the room or heater. Leaving the room wasn't possible given our evening plans. We took the heater. We paid $300/night for this and I asked the desk person on our last day if we could have a refund for the first night without heat. She said she'd check with the manager on Monday....21 days later I've received no response nor refund.
The absolute worst place ever. Dirty, rundown, smelly, no AC, very expensive. My wife booked for a non-refundable two nights. So I am stuck! A perfect place for college students on Spring Break! Deck railing rusting, and full of spiders and spider webs. The web site photos are nothing like the rooms. Slick, deceitful, marketing!
