Sons 10th birthday
My family and I checked into The Inn at Cape Kiwanda on May 15, 2026 for a weekend getaway to celebrate my son’s 10th birthday. We have stayed with you many times over the years for couples trips, girls weekends, and family vacations, and until now we have always had wonderful experiences. Unfortunately, this stay was incredibly frustrating and disappointing from beginning to end. The issues started immediately with our room keys. Throughout the first day, we had to have our keys remade four separate times. Later that evening, after returning from dinner, the keys once again did not work. Since the front desk was closed, we called the after-hours number approximately 15 times over the course of two hours while sitting in the lobby from 8:30 PM until 10:30 PM with no response. Eventually, someone wearing a Pelican Brewing shirt came through and suggested we go to Headlands Coastal Lodge & Spa for assistance. After waiting there for quite some time, an employee apologized, acknowledged she later saw the missed calls, and provided us with two new keys. When we returned to our room, the first key still did not work. Thankfully, the second one finally did. The following morning, after breakfast and time at the beach, we returned to find that our “maid service requested” sign had been switched to “do not disturb,” our room had not been serviced, and once again our keys no longer worked. We had to return to the desk yet again to have them remade. Later that same day, the keys stopped working for another time. A staff member walked up with us, but even his master fob would not unlock the door. We left for dinner and the pool while maintenance was supposedly being contacted. When we returned wet and cold from swimming, there was nobody at the front desk, forcing me to walk back to Headlands in my swimsuit to get help. By that point, my children were upset and crying, and what was supposed to be a special birthday celebration for my son had turned into an exhausting and stressful experience. I understand that occasional issues can happen, but the repeated key failures, inability to reach after-hours assistance, lack of staffing, housekeeping issues, and overall lack of resolution throughout our stay fell far below the level of service we have always associated with your property. As longtime returning guests, this experience was extremely disappointing. I would appreciate hearing from management regarding how this situation will be addressed.

Great location in Pacific City
The room was great with an awesome view of the beach and easy access to the beach. Loved the games you could borrow and how modern the room was. Only downside for us was to access the pool you needed to cross the street and enter through a convenience store. Otherwise it was a great place to stay.

Disappointed
Overpriced and not well-staffed. The Inn seems to be an afterthought for the management of The Headlands, its sister hotel.

Overpriced
Ended up paying way more than expected and no one was even available to speak to me about it. The amount payed I would expect a bigger room and 24 hour desk clerk availability

Quick get away
The location and atmosphere were perfect! Great restaurants near by and within walking distance. Didn’t move the car once during our stay. The hidden gem was walking the beach in the morning and looking at all the sea life in the rocks. I Wouldn’t change a thing!
