Magical & rejuvenating…a perfect stay!!
My husband and I spent two nights at the Bowline for our anniversary and my mind was blown! Literally, every single detail of the entire stay from check in to valet parking to our FABULOUS room and view, champagne chilling in the fridge for us…the entire staff, the food and drinks at The Knot…it was literally all perfect. I recently went to Italy and Greece and I have to say I enjoyed the Bowline more! :) My absolute favorite part was gathering around the fire pit by the water in the evenings with a cozy blanket that they offered and a yummy cocktail. And if it’s rainy, you can cozy up in your room by the fireplace! I literally cannot wait to go back and if you are thinking of visiting the Bowline, don’t hesitate for a second! Book it right this minute!

Loved our room, but it is not a quiet place.
The Bowline was the big splurge of our Oregon trip. I also looked at the Cannery, but the Bowline was a bit less expensive and more in the middle of where we wanted to be. I had done my homework, so I knew that they offered limited valet parking or I was going to be parking off-site somewhere. It was the weekend, so the front desk tipped me off that the bus station area a block away was free parking on the weekend, so that is where I parked and it was perfectly fine. This is not an option during the week, but fine on the weekend. I booked one of the two Ice House rooms. It was one of the two rooms separate from the rest of the hotel. There is no elevator, so we had to bring our luggage up the outside steps to get to the room, but that was fine. Maybe the only drawback was that the patio area was busy, so everyone is watching you as you climb up and down steps, lol. The room was wonderful. The bed amazing, the seating area excellent, the view amazing (I really mean, amazing!), the tub fantastic, the décor trendy. We loved the room. We had our own patio outside with chairs and a little table to watch the action on the river. We could also look down on the people at the outside patio area, lol. The huge window offered a fantastic view of the river. The little refrigerator was cute and very useful. We didn't use the coffee maker. It was easily the best room of our stay. Perfect for a couple. Of course, if you are reading the reviews, you are away of some of the issues because of the location. You can definitely hear the sea lions. They do have earplugs in the room if you need them. This is hardly a shock as 2 other hotels we stayed at has Sea Lion earplugs too. Welcome to Oregon I guess. It was basically background noise after a little while. There is no AC in the room. That was a slight issue the first evening, as it was in the 80's. It cooled down quickly in the evening and I always have a travel fan (for the noise) and put it in the open (screened) window to bring in cooler air. It was perfectly pleasant after that first evening. Having the windows open and being right next to the patio, meant it was loud in the evening, before the nightlife went to bed. It didn't bother us enough to be annoying, but you could hear it that first evening. Ice was also in the main building, so we had to make a couple trips over, which is no big deal, but I'm noting it. The shower set up is a bit interesting. There are two heads opposite of each other, which is nice for couple showers (do it!) but the way the glass is, with the middle section open, means water is going to spray onto the floor. There was minor water clean-up after each shower. Pricing was spicy, but the cool factor is high and the comfort is excellent. Location is excellent with lots of dining within minutes on foot. It was cool, I liked it. I would stay again, but I would also like to give the Cannery a try. You won't be disappointed if you know the quirks going in, so read these and do your homework in advanced, like a knowledgeable traveler. Our stay was excellent and memorable.

Bowline Hotel
The front desk staff were rude and were not helpful from offering valet parking until I asked. They told me to park on the street. They handed me my room keys and I had to ask how to get to the room because I had not stayed there before. The guys attitude was so poor. I finally told him” look I have never been here before and just trying to figure out the process” I paid $900.00 for two nights stay for this greeting.

Boutique Stay
This high end boutique hotel in Astoria was a fantastic choice for our couples getaway! We enjoyed the room amenities; river view porch, fresh local coffee/tea, ear plugs for the sea lion noise (which we didn’t need) the saunas, restaurant for breakfast (which was a pleasant surprise with very healthy options). Astoria was walkable for us and we had a chance to brewery and food truck hop a bit :)

Overpriced, noisy, and disappointing.
Overpriced and disappointing with shady pricing. Shortly before you arrive you’ll get a message offering an upgrade for $50. If you forego that, yet decide you actually do want it once you see the tiny, dark, creepy room you are assigned, the same upgrade will be closer to $120 at the desk and they’ll act like they’re doing you a favor. Even so, we wanted to love the place, but only regretted it. The decor and view are lovely, but the walls and floors are thin and there is zero soundproofing. You hear waves and sea lions under the floor, and literally every detail of sex through the walls. If you want to sleep, stay elsewhere. There were also lots of flies in the rooms.
