The Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast is situated halfway down the Manzanita seven mile beach. This Oregon coast bed and breakfast is less than a minute’s walk from the Pacific Ocean, on the edge of Nehalem Bay State Park.
Zen Garden Bed and Breakfast was built in 1981 and has been carefully restored to provide two deluxe units. Each has a private bathroom. Guests enjoy our free wifi throughout the property.

The location is great, slightly away from town but a walkable distance, with the surf just minutes walk away. Our bed was extremely comfortable and the hosts were on-site and attentive to our every need. The setting is relaxing, with feel of a private retreat. Breakfast was charming and delicious each day. Rooms are slightly quirky, but we were delighted with our accommodations. We will happily return.
We happened to see this place on the map and glad we did. The room and amenities was like a home away from home. Mrs Smigle’s breakfast served in the sitting room was delicious. The ambiance and location at the far south end of Manzanita were very relaxing. The Kyoto-inspired gardens, actually inspired us to rebook a trip to Kyoto that was cancelled due to Covid in 2020.
We enjoyed our stay in the Zen room. Just a few yards to the beach, easy access to town. Mrs Smigel made really delicious breakfasts, and we had a choice each morning. I selected An omelet with fresh prawns one morning, and she provided good coffee served in porcelain- really lovely! The bed was comfortable and the room very clean and cozy. Thank you Mrs. Smigel!
We spent two nights here to get a little better feel for the area as we passed through. The lodging is comfortable and quite interesting. The bed is comfortable. The hostess is really nice and makes sure you have all you need. The breakfasts are elegant and tailored to your needs. The walking access to the long beach is wonderful. Enjoy!
Staying at Zen Garden is such a treat for us. We feel so pampered with our incredible home cooked, breakfast in the morning. Walks on the beach and a rejuvenating evening soak in the private outdoor soaking tub. The bedding and bed is so luxurious. It's easy to stay in bed all day on rainy days with a good book while we wait for the sun to show. Mrs Smigel always makes us feel like we've come home for the weekend to be spoiled. This was our 3rd time staying and we are already looking forward to our next stay.
