Ocean House sits on a steep hillside overlooking Yaquina head, a several mile long beach and the Pacific ocean. The facility and surrounding gardens are well planned and maintained although the hillside makes parking quite cramped. It would be very difficult (possibly impossible) to park a full sized SUV in the parking area. There is a steep trail and 100 stair steps down to the beach. People with mobility issues need to be aware that stairs are unavoidable at this facility. There is a short but steep staircase to enter the building. There are nice outdoor facilities such as tables, chairs, and a fire pit with plenty of wood. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Cookies await your arrival along with a selection of complementary beverages and popcorn. There is a social hour with complementary beer or wine. Breakfast was very good and plenty filling. Our room was beautifully decorated and large. There was a wall of windows so we were able to fully enjoy the view of the ocean and Yaquina head. Our bathroom was huge and had a very large soaking tub. I'm a bit over five foot and could have drowned in the tub! We were surprised by how quiet it was. There were a number of guest but we weren't at all bothered by noise.
Very familiar and charming B&B. Comfortable rooms with spectacular seaviews. Fireplace for watching breathless making sunsets. We stayed just one night for a roadtrip. Definitely too short. Famous landmark Yaquina lighthouse in walking distance.
We stayed in the Windswept room. It is a beautiful room. Super relaxing and it is the perfect couples getaway. I love the music you can pipe into your room. As well as the many options for lighting. The shower is nice with very nice amenities and toiletries. The body wash was my favorite and left my skin super soft. I do wish there was a mini fridge in the room. They serve breakfast with the room. Staff is super attentive and sweet. Views are incredible. Breakfast was beautiful but left much to be desired. Especially the ice cold sausage. The baked French toast has no flavor. I think maybe if they had served with warm maple syrup this would of saves it. It looked beautiful!!
It was very a very nice experience. I had just been released to walk and put weight on my ankle that I had broken in 3 places and recovered from surgery and we needed a place to stay where there was no stairs. Mandy the host was so accommodating and helpful. She put us in the downstairs room and I did not have to walk far or up stairs. The room was clean and very nice. The breakfast was really good and Mandy put us in an area of seating that was not down any stairs. It was a very pleasant experience.
