When a friend asked me to go on a river trip through Hells Canyon, my immediate thought was "when was the last time I slept in a tent?" I was not sure what I was in for. but the Winding Waters staff has seen it all and helped this newbie. Not only did I learn how to kayak down Snake River (very proud of that), unplug from my phone, and watch the night sky for meteors, I felt like I stepped back in history along the Oregon and Idaho border. The steep canyon walls revealed all types of wildlife, the food was excellent, and the cot in my tent was quite comfortable. Whatever your comfort zone, the Winding Waters crew will make sure you are quite at home in the great outdoors. Amazing.

5 Stars Isn’t Enough!
Our trip with Winding Waters River Expeditions through Hells Canyon on the Snake River was truly the adventure of a lifetime. From beginning to end, they didn’t miss a beat. Everything was incredibly well organized and professional, the boats and equipment were in excellent condition, and every detail was handled so well that all we had to do was enjoy the river. What really made the trip extraordinary, though, were our guides — Becca, Anders, Anson, Harry and Kevin. They were absolutely amazing. They knew the river, its history and its stories, and shared that knowledge with us throughout the trip. They worked incredibly hard, rowing for miles, setting up camp, packing and unpacking gear every day, and somehow preparing meals that we are still talking about! Thank you for an adventure of a lifetime. Five stars isn’t enough!

Winding Waters is a Stellar Outfitter
I took a rafting trip on the Snake River last week, which was my 11th trip with Winding Waters. I have used other outfitters, and after using Winding Waters, my group has continued to use them exclusively. The level of professionalism, attention to safety, 5 star service and food truly are unmatched. To a person, the guides are top notch--they know the history associated with the various rivers; they are patient; they are extremely safety conscious, while still lots and lots of fun. Do not hestitate for a minute to use Winding Waters. You won't regret it.

family Hells Canyon trip with rafting and hard shell kayking on class 3 and 4 whitewater.
I had a dream. Kayak class 3 and 4 rapids in an epic location with some of my family in rafts and some in kayaks. We needed a kayak guide and we needed a cook who could make our family kosher food for the 3 day journey. I called many rafting companies across the west who couldn't make this happen but Robin and her team were immediately up for the challenge. So many companies want to follow their standard plan and remake the same trip for each group. Robin and the remarkable chef Hilary wanted to design the trip for us and they delivered. This was such a memorable adventure. Everyone loved it, both the most adventurous and the least adventurous. So much better than just about any other vacation we have been on. Every guide, every staff member and every guest on the trip was just a pleasure to be around. Our college aged kayak guide not only improved our kayaking skills but he also taught us geology, geography, biology and history from start to finish. I can guarantee that a multiday trip in Hells Canyon will be one of the best experiences of your life. I'm already planning for a return trip next year.

Traveling via river in paradise
I have made Winding Waters trips an annual event with my dearest friends. Floating via the river is a unique experience, and doing it safely with the most competent and friendly guides, turns the excitement into a very safe & fun affair. The food is always wonderful, the gear boat guides create a beautiful camp night after night. Truly one of my most favorite things to do, as sleeping under the stars, waking with the sun, in a small community of wonderful people makes me feel fully alive.
