This should have been a lot of fun, but it wasn't. My husband and I, both average size adults, were in the 6th row back on the passenger side where the seats were only big enough for kids. Our legs were pushed into the isle and outside of the vehicle. My husband, especially, felt very unsafe. After the tour, I asked to speak to a manager, but conveniently, he was not there. We were told he would call us back. Of course, he never did! Btw, the people behind us also complained. So ride at your own risk!

This is a long review, but necessary. I purchased a ride with my grandson in a dune buggy. Four people and the driver. It was a week away. I asked about the difficulty of the ride with me being 73 with a hip replacment, but good physical condition. I just didnt want to rupture a vertebrae on a 20' jump! The lady said it was bumpy, but with an hour instead of a half hour, it also a tour of the area. I booked it. I drove 1/2 mile to the boarding point and the entry road is rough, gravel and mud, pot holes, etc. I have a class B with a generator underneath, so I was concerned. I went back and asked if they had a shuttle. She said no and that diesel pushers go down that road all the time. I started to explain I had a class B but she cut me off and said I could always just walk. I realized she was getting angry and "NO REFUNDS" posted on the wall, so I said I'd figure it out next week when we came back. During the week, I lost my wallet and my 'ticket' for the ride. My grandson and I showed up for our ride the next week and I told the lady I didn't have my ticket. Same Lady. After a brief scolding, she found the transaction. I asked again about the ride being rough and she came unglued. She said I was the guy last week that kept arguing with her (not true) and that she was just going to give me a refund and that I was BANNED from there for life. Thakfully, there was NO ONE in the lobby because it was raining and my grandson was waiting in the van. I told her she would have no worry about me ever coming back. My grandson was very disappointed, so we drove five minutes south to the next dune buggy place. There was no one in the lobby (Raining) and I told them I was banned from Sandland. One guy yelled out, "That's OK. I'm banned from there, too." I asked about the ride. They said no worries. We bought the hour ride and had a blast. Every 15 minutes, the driver stopped and asked how we sere doing, and each time ramping up the ride. THAT was customer servcie. I tipped him $50 Sandland should seriously look at their employees, policies, and lack of customer service. As a CFO of a large bank and business owner, I understand a little about business and service. Sandland is a place you should avoid. She shouldn't be working there or in any customer service capacity.

If this is not on your bucket list – put it on this very second for an unforgettable adventure!! This is undoubtedly one of the most fun things that I’ve ever done! I had never heard of the Oregon San Dunes Recreation Area which is the largest sand dune area (40 miles) in North America. We made reservations for a group dune buggy ride. We arrived at the center which also has a miniature golf area, go-karts, a gift shop and restrooms. We had reserved spots and paid earlier. The check in was smooth and we waited for about 15 minutes while the first group unloaded. All 20+ of us boarded the Giant Dune Buggy, secured our belts and were ready to go! Our driver was a veteran driver and made the rollercoaster-like ride go as smoothly as it could be. He displayed great knowledge and understanding about the area – the camping sites, the staging areas for ATV rentals, the views, the way the sand moves constantly and fools you causing accidents – everything was narrated with a wry sense of humor. We raced up the hills and down to the beach where we sailed along to beautiful views of the Pacific Ocean before driving back to the staging area – a vast crater in the middle of the park. Up and down we went on the gigantic sand dunes whose contours you could see moving and changing even as the driver warned us about their shifting shapes. The hourlong ride seemed too short by the time we returned! Highly recommend doing this at least once in your lifetime!

Highlight of our Oregon Coast Trip.
My daughter had to talk me into taking the one hour Sandrail Tour. It was a BLAST! Our driver, JD, was the best. Very knowledgeable and safety oriented. There was 8 of us ranging from 9-69 years old, and we all loved it. I would do it again in a heartbeat!
