Extremely Disappointing Experience – Families with Young Children Beware
My family recently visited Sandland Adventures with our two children, ages 12 and 3.5 years old. We had booked the Fast Buggy Adventure ride along with two other families, one of whom also had a 3.5-year-old child. Our ride was scheduled for 5:00 PM, and we were excited, expecting this to be a memorable family experience at the dunes. Unfortunately, it turned into a very upsetting and stressful experience. The problems started at the check-in counter. The woman working there was rude, disrespectful, and dismissive. Since we were there to enjoy the day with our families, we chose to ignore the behavior and move on. We first participated in the go-kart ride, which went well, and we were happy with that part of the visit. The real issues began when we arrived for our Buggy Adventure ride. My 3.5-year-old son and another toddler in our group were excited about the ride. Without providing any instructions or seeking permission from either set of parents, the buggy driver unexpectedly approached the children and attempted to put safety sunglasses on them. My son became startled and scared by this sudden action. While trying to remove the glasses, he accidentally tore the foam padding attached to the lower portion of the frame. This is something that can happen with very young children. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the buggy driver became angry and demanded that my child get off the ride. He threatened to cancel the ride for everyone if we did not comply. To avoid disrupting the experience for the other families, my wife decided to take our son out of the buggy. However, the situation escalated further. The driver immediately contacted the main office and demanded payment for the damaged sunglasses. My wife was repeatedly pressured to pay on the spot. When we asked if the matter could be discussed after the ride, a few buggy drivers gathered around us and insisted that we pay immediately, even stating that they could charge the credit card we had already used for booking. At that point, our families felt intimidated and uncomfortable. We eventually went to the main office to settle the charge. Since we were being charged the full cost of the sunglasses, I requested that the broken glasses be returned to us. Initially, the receptionist refused and stated that they intended to reuse them, which made little sense given that we were being charged the full replacement cost. After I insisted that I would not pay unless the damaged item was returned to us, she first threw a different broken frame onto the counter and then tossed other glasses separately onto the counter in a manner that we found disrespectful and unprofessional. What should have been a simple and understandable situation involving a young child was handled with unnecessary hostility, intimidation, and poor customer service. Our families were left feeling upset, embarrassed, and disappointed. Families with small children should think carefully before booking with this company. We did not expect to be treated this way over a pair of safety glasses accidentally damaged by a toddler. This experience left all three families disappointed and upset. We will not be returning and cannot recommend Sandland Adventures based on how poorly we were treated.

Exciting family Ride
My wife and I went with our Grandson. We did the 30 minute sandrail tour. It was awesome. It was fast, exciting and we loved it. We’re going again next week.

10/10. Spencer our guide was great. We participated in the hour tour and my kid wanted to go longer he had so much fun.
So much fun! Booked this on a whim and so glad I did. My 13 year old loved doing this and we off road at home all the time on our own machines.

Be prepared to be disrespected
BEWARE! We were excited to experience the dune buggie tour and were extremely disappointed by the person who greeted us! We decided to experience this tour as a half way stop to Portland OR. We arrived early and as soon as we walked into the check in building the woman there to greet us was disrespectful and so rude. We are four successful adults looking for a fun experience while on vacation and she was like hitting a brick wall, passive aggressive, nasty and totally inappropriate treating us like children. When the four of us left the building to follow her instructions- we were all like holy crap- did we just experience this behavior the same way. We decided that there was no need for this treatment and I walked back in to professionally let her know to let “Spencer - our tour guide” know we will not be taking the tour. She ripped into us about no refunds will be given and we should have read our emails, and I never even brought any of this up since I clearly read the email of no refunds and we all knew this. Totally not needed on our vacation when not deserved. This company had a lot of good reviews but this woman needs to be removed or fired.
