Brightwood

Show more info about Brightwood

While driving the most significant elevation climb on Mt. Hood, you pass through Brightwood, Welches, Zigzag and Rhododendron — the villages of Mt. Hood. Located in close proximity to high-mountain lakes, rivers chilled from the mountain’s melting glaciers and the Mt. Hood National Forest, this is the outdoor enthusiast’s playground. Explore the landscape by bike, ski or foot; ride the waters in a kayak or raft; or test your skills at fly-fishing.

Mt. Hood / The Gorge

Brightwood is located in Mt. Hood / The Gorge, home to the towering cliffs and waterfalls of the Columbia River Gorge and the snowy peak of Mt. Hood.

Nearby cities are: Zigzag, Welches, Rhododendron, and Corbett.

The graceful white cone of Mt. Hood beckons on Portland’s horizon, just an hour’s drive away. The 11,240-foot volcano has long been one of the city’s great escapes, but many travelers overlook the spectacular alpine hikes at Mt. Hood in favor…
