The Carlton Winemakers Studio has been the launching pad of some of Oregon’s most exciting producers for almost 20 years. A winery collective, tasting room and wine shop all in one, The Studio is here to help you explore the Willamette Valley in one central location. While over a dozen small producers are crafting their wares by utilizing the shared winery space and equipment, the Tasting Room showcases their wines in a series of rotating flights that change weekly. With winemakers sourcing fruit from every AVA in the Willamette Valley, as well as Southern Oregon and Washington, you’ll be able to experience the artistry of fermentation through each of their unique perspectives. Call ahead to see who The Studio is featuring today or just pop on in to be surprised. If you’re lucky you might even find one of the winemakers pouring behind the bar.

What More to Ask: Innovation in Winemaking at Carlton Winemakers Studio
Great tasting flight for wine which you won't likely find at TotalWine. Experimental innovation. Studies products wine you will want to ship home. Griffith great pourer. Very knowledgeable and amiable.

Change of pace
Lovely facility, interesting wines, and friendly staff. While I love the tried and true perfect pinots along ribbon ridge, CWS gives us a way to try new, more experimental wines from up and coming cooperative members. Add this to your winery itinerary mid way through to mix things up a bit.

Top notch place with great variety of wines.
Always a great tasting and they have such a diverse profile of whites and reds that make this different than the typical chardonnay and pinot only tasting. Also a variety of price points also. Great place to learn about oregon wine.

Not worth the tasting price
Not shown ahead of time what the flight was. When strongly didn't like one of the tastings, not offered an alternative. No attempt to ask what we liked or collect feedback on if we liked what was last served. No discount for the 25 tasting fee when purchasing. Won't recommend this place. Plenty of good wineries to see in the area that are more responsive to your tastes and directly discount a purchase. Nice tasting area, comfortable seating. Big selection, but zero attempt to show it off via the tasting flight, or draw out the tasters preferences and make suggestions along those lines. Staff was friendly, perhaps stretched thin, but it was overall a disappointment. Wish we'd gone to another instead. First fail I've had in wine tasting in the area. Even the tasting at the Chemeketa CC school winery was more focused and attentive (beautiful grounds to boot.)

Charming setting, delicious wines and great experience!
My daughter and I visited the Carlton Winemakers Studio. We picked it because it didn’t require a reservation, and because it represented multiple, small local wineries that we hadn’t tried before. It is located in Carlton, a charming town in wine country and a beautiful drive from our home. The studio has a nice courtyard with tables with umbrellas to provide shade. There are also Adirondack chairs surrounding a fire pit available which might be nicer in cooler weather. We settled in at a table and tasted a flight of local wines. They offered a nice sampling of whites, roses and reds. We sampled 8 different wines, and bought a case! The staff were friendly and informative, telling us about the wine and the winemakers. It was a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon and enjoy some wine and sunshine. We will definitely come back in the Fall to enjoy some wines by the fire pit. If you have a free afternoon, I highly recommend spending some time in Carlton to check out the Winemakers Studio.
