Ideally situated in the heart of downtown Portland, Oregon’s revitalized West End neighborhood, Sentinel is located in two adjacent historic buildings that have been restored to their original grandeur and upgraded with luxurious modern touches following a $6 million renovation of all 100 guest rooms and four floors of meeting space, the integration of an inspirational art collection and a reinvention of the strikingly grand lobby. Named after its unique exterior architectural sculptures, Sentinel serves as a meeting place for the visionary thinkers, makers and doers who flock to this verdant, rain-soaked Pacific Northwest city for artistic and entrepreneurial inspiration.

New First Choice Hotel in Portland.
This was my first stay at the Sentinel. I generally stay in Portland approx 6 times per year for a mix of business/family at a different hotel, but this popped up on my Amex Hotel Fine Hotels, so I decided to give it a try. First off, Outstanding Customer Service for start to finish. For an older historic property, the rooms are quiet, comfortable with nice amenities. The hotel has a very warm and comfortable atmosphere. This will be my new first choice accommodation in Portland.

One of our favorite hotel experiences!
Absolutely excellent space for a wedding group! We got a couple suites to spend time together as a group in and also had our own individual rooms for rest! Loved it!

An excellent knowledgeable staff make their. Prices are fair snd their location is ideal to explore. Loads of ethnic food. Available within a few blocks. They have a pretty good restaurant and parking us next door. Easy location to uber or Lyft from snd venues for parties.

Nicest Hotel of Our Trip
Our recent stay at the Sentinel Hotel was awesome. No other way to describe it. The gentleman on duty at the time we checked in (April 26, about 7 p.m.), who incidentally was on duty the next day at check-out time also, was the nicest guy. (All the staff were great.) So friendly and welcoming. I shared with him that we were staying there because my beloved aunt and uncle, now long passed, stayed at this hotel on their honeymoon in 1924—when it was the Seward Hotel. I only know this because I received my aunt’s bridal book not long ago from a cousin. Due to time constraints, we were only able to stay one night there, but we absolutely loved it, and hope to return one day. So classy, so beautiful, so—authentic. From the ornate ceilings to the fireplace in our room, we felt like we’d traveled back to the early years of the last century. Thank you, Sentinel Hotel, and everyone who keeps this place so clean, so perfect, and running so smoothly. Our short stay is a memory I will carry with me always. NOTE: We did not eat there, or use the bar. Unfortunately, we had very little time.

Average disappointed
Convenient location in downtown Portland. Average as far as luxury hotels go. Excellent service. Charges for everything were above and beyond even other luxury hotels. I won't stay again. Upgraded room was extremely unimpressive and basic
