Like most of Portland the Guesthouse is in a querky neighborhood with lots of places to eat and shop. The Guesthouse is an old craftsman style home all sorts of built-ins and nice woodwork. If you're looking for an upscale place to rest your head then this might not be the place for you but very comfortable bed, friendly staff that make the stay very enjoyable.
We were in town for one evening and had other commitments. In an ideal world, we would have stayed here for a few days, enjoyed the restaurants and neighborhood, and the ambience of the house. We stayed in the Beverly Cleary room with a bath and shower, and had everything we needed. We live in a quiet place, so we noticed the street noise. The breakfast was perfect. We had many choices and served ourselves.
Overall score: 4 Customer Service: 5 Location: 5 Parking: 3 Cleanliness: 4 Reservations: 5 Comfort: 4 We stayed last night at this lodging location, while we were visiting the Portland area. We made our reservations a few weeks ago, and the process was seamless and very easy. Everything was contactless and we received an email from the staff on how to access the house. Our email instructions included our room and private bathroom details. The parking situation is very challenging because they don't have on site parking. There is nearby street parking within 1-2 blocks. This lodging is within walking distance to many nearby restaurants, shops, and bars. The rooms are warm and cozy, but not very accessible for handicapped people. Overall our lodging experience was very good and I'm sure we would return for another visit.
Fantastic guesthouse in the division area of Portland. Very quaint. Rooms are lovely, there is a garden, full use of the kitchen, on a bus route straight to downtown. Great little brewery opposite and lots of places to eat in the area. Great range of cereals and parties for breakfast. The only drawback is parking - yes it is free but you struggle to find a place to park, you may need to park in a side road.
We stayed for two nights and found the location to be very convenient in terms of parking and choices of nearby restaurants for dinner. Other than that, our room was old and tired with a very noisy air conditioner. The bathroom was NOT en-suite…it was down a common hall and the shower was also in another room off the same hall. All of the furnishings were tired and the exterior needs serious maintenance. No one greeted us and we had no contact with anyone other than the housekeeper during our stay. There are a lot of empty storefronts along Division Street which speaks to it being a neighborhood in transition.
