We were booked into the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Portland by our travel agent as we had gone in to book a holiday to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. All we knew was that we wanted to visit four areas of the West Coast. We had absolutely no idea where to stay, but, boy, were we delighted with the choice. As soon as we pulled up outside we were blown away by the beauty and appearance and the inside did not disappoint either. Our room is just beautiful with gorgeous furniture and fittings and so spacious. The staff are super helpful, and the jazz pianist, Julian, was so friendly. Thank you, Royal Sonesta, we will definitely be returning 😍

The Weird that is Portland
This hotel was extraordinary. The ambiance is decadent; it's chic is luxurious. Honestly this hotel is such a hotspot for us, that we have made it our spot to build a lodging relationship with. Whenever we are in Portland, particularly in Downtown; this will be our stay. We loved it that much. Its location is logistically on point. Everything we wanted was minutes away. From Powell's Books, Raven Manor, to even the local Whole Foods. Top notch.

Completely fabulous
I had little idea this hotel was so great: beautiful elegant public spaces, huge room that was a pleasure to enter and disappointing to leave. It was a real shame not to have enjoyed it for the full time. Every hotel should be this good. I don’t understand the resort fee thing and believe it should be incorporated into the price but still enjoyed greatly.

Great stay at Royal Sonesta Portland – big thanks to Alarik and housekeeping
Stayed here for four nights and had a great experience. The hotel is clean, well-maintained, and feels safe. Parking is secure, and the valet team is polite and professional every time you interact with them. Special mention to Alarik at the front desk. We arrived early and weren’t sure if we’d be allowed to check in, but he got us into a room right away without making a big deal of it. I’m vegetarian, and while the hotel didn’t have obvious veg options for breakfast, Alarik personally made sure I was taken care of — went out of his way to help. That kind of effort sticks with you. Also want to acknowledge the housekeeping team — I didn’t catch their names, but the room was spotless every day, which I really appreciated. Would definitely recommend staying here. Solid property, great staff, and people who genuinely seem to care.

Love this Royal Sonesta for so many reasons
Just stayed here for a second year in a row. Just a short one night stay with a friend to celebrate our July birthdays. We both absolutely love everything about this hotel. Wouldn’t change a thing. This hotel really provides a much higher quality of everything in every category for the price paid. It’s a beautiful, spotlessly clean in every area and plushly decorated. It’s funky vs classic which really just adds to the charm. The staff is welcoming, friendly and accommodating adding to the overall comfort the minute you walk in thru the stunning lead glass doors. This hotel is probably the best bang for your buck in every aspect in downtown Portland all will always be our first choice when doing a staycation.
