Worth a visit if only for the scenery and an outting
This is an interesting place. There is a wine tasting place and the factory , a tram that can take you on a tour and more. We were in Portland, saw this on the Net and took the drive, the scenery was beautiful. There was a light rain but it cleared up when we arrived. We tend to check out gift shops first so that’s what we did. The one thing that irked me was my fault, really. It had to do with the Marionberry pies stacked around. We bought a large one and assumed we could eat it immediately. We started to eat it outside at the tables but decided to wait. A lot of dialog surrounded this pie as we were visiting relatives and we couldn’t decide when and where to eat it. When we took the family home they were going to cut it and give us half. $37.50 for the pie. Then we found out the pie had to be cooked first. Was frozen. lol Since we didn’t have an oven we left it for the relatives to cook and bring our portion when we saw them next. My thing is- I assumed the pies were cooked because small pies were stacked here and there on shelves I never really looked at the box. The larger pies were in a freezer, which was thought to be a fridge. All our fault. maybe. Maybe the shop should have a sign saying ready to eat or needs to be cooked. It was just weird. So with all we saw and bought my only real memory is the pie we couldn’t eat. The food items can be purchased on their website but there is much only available on site. There are handicap parking spaces and the toilet in the winery was handicap accessible. The drive back to Portland was rain free so we could enjoy the scenery.

They take the 'custom' out of customer service
I tried to get a custom box made of local Hood River Products to be shipped. They told me they only ship the things that are in their catalog, many of the items that don't even come from Hood River. They were not willing to ship a box of products that they carry in their own retail store. I talked to the customer service manager, who explained that their boxes are made to fit the products, which tells me that they prioritize their boxes over the needs and wishes of the customer. I was willing to pay more than normal for this gift. They were not willing to accommodate me. Placing the business needs above the customer needs is no formula for success.

Touristy. Pass.
This was disappointing. It was a very touristy place. Nothing we saw was picked or made here. It was all expensive and not even made in the Pacific Northwest. We went to stores on the Fruit Loop to find local items. There are many stops that have them but this is not one of them.

Skip it.
Orchards tour: The orchards were pretty basic and not much to see. Factory tour: The behind the scenes tour shows how they make the gift baskets. However, got one from an online order and it was nothing like the ones they make for the tour "show". They show you a higher quality during the tour but if you order online the gift baskets are overpriced for fruit that has not even grocery store quality. Disappointing.
