The best way to learn about Portland
Mae was a-mae-zing! She had so much great history to share. Terrific tour we would recommend as your first-day excursion.

Great way to get around Portland's sites!
While planning a trip to Portland I came across the Pink Trolley. Although it would have been possible to rely on various public transportation options, the fixed route and open-air trolleys were appealing. Plus, with just one full day to explore Portland, this seemed most efficient. We reserved tickets for the Japanese Garden and took the first trolley of the day. We visited the Japanese Garden and Rose Test Garden as our first stop. We took a later bus from there to Hoyt where we went for a hike. By that point it was getting hot and so we rode the trolley down to the Riverplace for a late lunch. Temps were expected to reach the upper 90s and, while the open air ride was cool and comfortable, it was understandable why the tours were ending early. After lunch, we caught the final trolley of the day back to the start point in order to visit the Portland Art Museum. It would have been a challenge to reach all of those destinations in a single day without the trolley, and the ticket price (~$30 seemed well worth it). What was an unexpected treat were the drivers who were friendly and an abundance of knowledge, which provided an outstanding educational experience about what makes the city of Portland so unique. It was just myself and another adult family member, and we both thoroughly enjoyed traveling between sites on the trolley as much as some of the sites themselves. Highly recommend.

Great tour, great driver.
The bus driver was very informative, the tour was great but, when we arrived at the check in point, we were informed that because of the heat wave the train tour was stopping early. I paid for a full day and only received a 1/2 day. It would have been nice to receive a partial refund, for the missed hours.

Enjoyable way to see the sites
We always use the Hop -On Hop-Off tours when we can and they rarely disappoint. This one was fun, informative and for the most part always on time. Our first stop at the Japanese Gardens turned out to be the most interesting one. We never had a problem finding the bus stops and really enjoyed seeing the sites from this pink bus. The driver was courteous and spoke clearly so we could always understand what was being said. It was a great way to get around to the sites of Portland for one day.
