Mixed feelings on the place
Great atmosphere and friendly people looking for a good time, that it was! BUT, when I got my bill it was $28 for a burger and tots & 1 non-alcoholic beer. I’m still dumbfounded! How does that add up. The food was mediocre.

Loved the Big O
When we drove up to the Big O I wasn't expecting much. Its on a busy but small-town "feel" road well-outside of downtown Astoria. But the food was great with many meno choices; fast and friendly service; a full bar; and delicious desserts. We sat outside in the patio area and had a leisurely meal and the staff let us linger - never felt rushed to leave.

Interesting place!
I've eaten at the Big O a few times and have always been pleased. This time, not so much - our pulled pork was a bit greasy and had just a spoonful of BBQ sauce - not what we were expecting. Also, the waitress was a bit crabby so the whole experience wasn't what we've been used to. Guess we caught it on a bad day. Normally, though, the food's good, the beer's good, and it's an interesting place with antlers and license plates providing the decor.

Best outdoor dinning in Clatsop County
Olney Saloon, why I give them a five (5) star rating? Nr.1 they have dining sitting outside with fireplace (recommend sitting there its super cozy) and they have outdoor heat lamps pretty much by every outdoor table. Nr.2, the locals tell me when they are serving Enchiladas they rush over there because they don’t sell Enchiladas regular and Nr.3, the locals also told me that Sundays are a popular day because they sell Tacos and it’s like a community event to meet at Olney Saloon and eat Tacos. Nr.4, I definitely plan to try both the Enchiladas that are to die for and the Taco Sunday community event. Nr. 5, my first time there I asked the young lady in the store what she would recommend as the most filling meal and to my surprise she said, the Cheese Mac. So, I tried it and believe it or not I eat at 11 am (opening) and at 9 pm at night I was still full. Nr. 6, today, February 1st, 2021, I tried the burger the bar maid recommended (see photo). I tried the Pineapple burger with Teriyaki sauce and since I don’t like cold slaw, I order garlic fries. The burger was large enough to feed two adults and there was no way I could eat this humongous burger and the fries. I noticed the locals are smart, as side dish they get potato chips. If, you want a date night experience with your wife or girlfriend, I recommend sharing a burger and then you have extra spending money for drinks or desert. The Pineapple Burger cost $11.25 and a coffee for $2.50 includes two (2) cups. Olney Saloon Address: 89523 OR-202, Astoria, OR 97103

The OLD SPOKES love the BIG O!
The North Coast Old Spokes love the BIG O! We visit regularly on our monthly rides and always get a warm, friendly welcome, icy cold beer, and fabulous food. Dale, Shawron, and their staff absolutely make every visit special - and never laugh at our Spandex and goofy shoes!
