Expected More.
We usually frequent this restaurant when we go to Cannon Beach (once or twice a year) Normally I would rank it a 4 or 5 but the last time was not what one would expect for the prices. We were seated at a table that was close to the door and the breeze from outside was blowing directly on us as they normally keep the door open. II had to ask them to close the door which they did but the door was constantly being used and not always closed afterward. The food was mediocre at best. My Eggplant was charred to the point of being slightly burnt. The roasted potatoes that mu wife had were overdone and hard. The vegetable on the plates was kale, weak at best. We asked to see the desert menu which was delayed by our waitress chatting with a couple at another table. Not normally a problem but she talked to them for over 10 minutes while we sat and waited for the menus that she held n her hand. The cheesecake was terrible. It was a ricotta cheesecake that was not very good. I asked for coffee and the waitress brought me a cp of cold coffee. She later stated that they had not brewed any fresh that night so I was out of luck(she did not say out of luck she was more pleasant that that) . All in all a disappointment and we will not go back in the future. I recommend that there are better restaurants in the area for the price.

Quaint, intimate, fine dining
We live in the Portland area so we have visited Cannon Beach on several occasions. We had never been to Newmans so decided to give it a try. What a nice surprise. It is in a small house that has been converted into a quaint and intimate setting. Service was quick, friendly, and responsive to questions. All food courses were well prepared and presented. We started with an appetizer of scallops and a bowl of polenta which impressed me as complex and interesting as an amuse bouche. Clam chowder in a bread bowl was very good. Large portion of halibut was gently seared. Didn't have room for the creme brulee, so they put it in a cup to take home. Yumm!!

Best food in Cannon Beach
Enjoyed a wonderful dinner here for our anniversary. Stated with sharing the seared scallops, then the halibut special and the prawns. Everything was prepared wonderfully. Wine list was good, surprising there wasn’t a greater emphasis on PNW wines. Not a complaint, just an interesting side note. The restaurant is small and quaint, absolutely book ahead. Service was impeccable. Overall, highly recommended.

Lovely Valentines Dinner.
This was our first visit. We started with the mushroom soup which was fantastic. For main course we had the halibut special and sautéed scampi. Both were excellent. We finished with chocolate gelato. The flavor was good but texture was not smooth but gritty. For that reason we gave 4 stars. Service was great but dining room was cold. We would certainly go back. All I. All, an excellent meal.
