PLEASANTLY SURPRISED.
So, I moved to Grants Pass at the end of June and finding an acceptable Chinese Restaurant was on my list of places to discover. I first went to another Chinese place in town recommended by a local and it was awful. (See my separate review of that one). Today, I wanted to try again to find something....so I decided to try the Hong Kong restaurant. I was a bit worried since it has low scores. That in mind I played it safe and ordered only a 2 item senior combo; I chose pork Chow Mein and BBQ Pork. It came with WonTon soup. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. Very pleasantly surprised. Is it the best "Chinese-American" food I've ever had? No. But it was delicious. Of course food is a subjective opinion, but I'll just sum it up by saying "I'll be back".

Worst Chinese food Ever!
I have to say it was the worst Chinese food I’ve ever had. We did not eat our food. We left it and went home hungry. We were so disappointed.

Hong Kong is back to what it used to be.
The Hong Kong is a Grants Pass staple. It sold a little over a year ago, and it took the new owners a bit to figure it out. I am happy to say they are finally back on track. The food is great again. The service is the best! I love going here. It is my comfort food location. Sheryl is my favorite waitress. She always makes me feel cared about and well taken care of. Please give it another try if it wasn't what you expected in the last year or so. Everyone takes a minute to learn how to do great things...especiallygreat food. They are back on track. Yay!!!

Terrible Bad Tasting Food & Overall Bad Experience
Since the new ownership has taken over The Hong Kong Restaurant the quality of the food has steadily gone down hill and it has hit an all time low now. We ordered Family Style for four people. The chicken chow mein had a strange brown greasy hue to it and it tasted like it had been regrilled in oil or grease. The fried shrimp was all breading and no or little shrimp and also tasted bad and was cold and hard like it was old and not freshly made. The Mar Far Chicken looked like it had been refried also and was partially burnt. The Fried Rice had a red hue which I assume was from reusing leftover BBQ Pork since it was cut up in it. The food had all the signs of a restaurant having money trouble. This was meal was for a family birthday celebration so was still eaten mostly and hope we don’t get sick from spoiled and reused food. Even though we hated to see this iconic Grants Pass Restaurant go away when the original owners shut it down, this new ownership and the outcome is terrible. Do not recommend.
