Good Earth is right on the Madras Mountain Views Scenic Bikeway. Stop in for good healthy food and and stay for the sugary, sticky buns.

Flavorful snacks in casual environment! Enjoyed a fine loaded club sandwich and a very-berry smoothy! We appreciated the quality fillings in the sandwich!

Charming cafe
We got food to go, but will eat in next time. Their potato bacon soup was delicious! In addition, the cafe itself is quite charming.

Fine coffee, poor service
Interesting little cafe where we stopped on our way through Madras. Cinnamon bun was dry, unfortunately, but the coffee was fine and the ambience is good for talking, working on the computer, etc. My only complaint was the young woman taking the order. It's not often that one sees a server with absolutely no interest in the customer and absolutely no visible personality, even in this day of scarce staff availability. We had to keep checking back to see if our simple coffee orders were ready -- she couldn't be bothered in any way. While we were only there for a quick visit this time, she did not inspire us to ever want to go back. Management might want to up its training and hiring practices a bit. Current staff is only going to drive customers away.

GF lunch spot in Madras
Passed through Madras many times. First time at GREAT EARTH CAFE & MARKET. Loved it. Gluten Free. Dairy Free. Sandwiches, drinks, and smoothies were outstanding. We found our new stopping spot going from Portland to Sunriver!

Delicious lunch
Great Earth Cafe and Market is an excellent alternative to the chain restaurant in town with a name that suggests ursine ownership. The clientele is local (a good sign) and there was a short wait to order our lunch at the counter. An annoyance: there is one copy of the full menu that is passed from customer to customer, so those of us unfamiliar with the menu had little time to consider the options. We both ordered daily specials: for me, a tuna salad wrap; for my partner, an apple Waldorf salad. Not needing caffeine, we both asked for glasses of water--no charge. There are many small and well spaced tables in the dining area that provide plenty of social distancing. Second annoyance: the music was loud; we chose a table as far away from the speaker as possible. Although the cafe was busy, our orders arrived in less than 10 minutes. My tuna wrap was delicious and filling, served with a small bag of "gourmet" potato chips. My partner's salad looked like an even better choice. Yum, yum. Our total bill was only $26. You'd spend more at the ursine-owned diner, get table service but a lot more calories (check out the calorie counts on their menu!) I'm certain that the food there wouldn't be as delicious as at Great Earth. Go here, not there.
