Its' always great old school Chinese-American food. Food is high standard, the place is a time warp, which I like......reasonably priced.

This place used to be absolutely AMAZING but now it is just okay. We literally have been eating here since the beginning of this place and we’re always excited to come have our regular favorites. After the new owners bought it, we ate here once and were so disappointed that we didn’t come back for a couple years. My cousin who lives in Montana and who used to love to eat here came to visit and demanded that I bring her here; (not only did she eat her often when she lived in the area but she also worked here). She ordered her favorite dish that she always had and was very disappointed as are the rest of us. I will say, that it is not as bad as it was the last time I ate here so, I think they might be getting the hint that they’re going to go out of business if they don’t improve the quality of their food but they still have a long way to go to the glory days of old.

Excellent Chinese
Well worth the trip! Food is outstanding. Will come again and again. We visit at least once a year from Washington state.

New Owners Bring Worse Food
Golden Star used to be the best place to have Chinese food in Clatsop County. I can no longer say that. New owners bought the place and the food quality has suffered. I ordered a dinner plate that included pork fried rice, broccoli beef, chicken subgum chow main and sesame chicken. I used to love the pork fried rice but that last couple times we have been here it hasn't been good. the vegetables dishes were ok but the chicken was dry. We were even told that it would cost a $1 a person for tea. I understand the higher food prices but the tea charge seemed too much. I'm not sure where to go for Chinese food now but I'm pretty sure it isn't here.

Of the 3 "Asian" restaurants in town this is the best. Their food is always consistent. having just moved back into town from Irvine,CA, where Asian is king, this is is maybe a 3 on a scale of 5.
