Trouble in the kitchen
After searching for whales that didn't appear, we stopped here for some lunch. They failed miserably. I ordered a sandwich and onion rings and after a long time waiting, our server came out to tell me they had prepared the wrong food for me and it will take some time to get in right. Once it came, they brought fries (I ordered onion rings) plus the bacon was hard and dried out. My wife ordered a ham and Swiss cheese sandwich and by the time it was served, the bread was soggy. Our server was friendly, but what was going on in the kitchen?

Chowder to go
We sat at the bar and ordered chowder and salad to go. Waiter was in the edge of being rude but was quick about dialing up our food. Noticed the dining area was nice and clean and had quite a bit of seating. Plenty of staff on a Sunday night. Looked like a wide amount of non chowder options. Short drive to our resort and chowder was still piping hot. Im not a chowder expert but thought it was pretty tasty. Salad was mostly greens with meager amount of veggies. All in all nothing to write home about as we imagined a sunset through the coastal clouds. They did charge a “to go fee” of $1.50. 2 bowls of chowder and side salads:$30

Great service, ok food
I went to the Chowder Bowl for lunch. The restaurant was nice and clean with a nice view of the ocean across the street. There were only 2 other customers at the bar, so I was waited on promptly. The waiter was very promp and friendly. I ordered a cup of chowder, and the fish and chips. The chowder was tasty, but a bit underseasoned. The fish was very fresh and flaky, but the breading was not very crip. It also was underseasoned. The fries were plentiful but unsalted as well. The serving was huge and I ended up taking a bunch of food back to my rental. I spent almost 25 dollars for the cup of chower and fish and chips, with only water to drink. I thought the price was a bit high. I'll probably try some different places and see if I want to return.

Compare to mom’s
Walked in on a Thursday while waiting for shoppers and got a take out chowder and advised the owner/head cook that I would write w review if it was as good as my mom’s. I’m from New England and it was worthy. Great for a cold day waiting.
