Steens Mountain Brewing Company located in Burns, Oregon brings the taste of the high desert to beer lovers. Try their Basque Amber Ale or Buena Vista Mexican Dark Lager. They have also planted some heirloom ‘North Fork’ and ‘Homestead’ hops and transplanted heirloom ‘Windmill’, ‘Mustang’ and ‘Turnout’ hop rhizomes. These are some of the hops they use in brewing. These hops are found growing wild at homesteads throughout Harney County. All beer is brewed small batch with over eight varieties of regional heirloom hops ( some grown on site the brewery’s hop yard ). Each beer is inspired by a must-visit Harney County land mark or event. The focus is on all grain brewing recipes with only whole-leaf hops.
