Spectacular views can't be beat
The spectacular views of Depoe Bay from our room on the third floor make this our favorite place to stay. The room is fine - seems newly renovated, is clean and the plumbing works perfectly. Service is modest - for example, coffee and cookies is all there is in the morning. But for those loving the coast for its views, this place is hard to beat.

Avoid whenever possible
Where to start. I realize this is a budget hotel so my expectaions were adjusted for that. Having stayed In Depoe Bay in April across the highway, we saw the Travelodge on the hillside with a commanding view of the cove/ocean. Wife wanted to whale watch so we thought we'd give this a try in spite of the reviews. First, tried to book online at the hotel website. Three 1-bed queen options at different price points, but with the same desciption for all, no idea what the difference was. Note that the description stated "In room temperature control". Only if it's heat. A ceiling fan is your cooling (no A/C). The west side of the room is all glass so when the sun comes over the building, the room heats up. I expect Jul/Aug can be problematic. Misleading room description. Called the hotel. Very quickly told they were not taking phone reservations (a first for me in 40+ years). Booked online, added a comment to the "Special Requests" section that there was no way to choose the 3rd story room so we were requesting one so we could whale watch. Numerous emails/texts prior to arrival (excited to see you, trip near, etc.). Not one word about our room request. Arrive at 1PM. Didn't expect to check-in, just wanted to park and walk the town before check-in. Lobby was locked up (another first). Sign said to pick up phone and dial 0. That works better when someone will answer the phone. Talked to a very kind young lady cleaning the room next to the lobby and explained we just wanted to park. She opened the door to the room adjoinging the lobby, asked the question, then told us it was OK. So, it appears someone was there, they just chose not to staff the lobby or answer the phone. Came back closer to 4PM. Lobby now open. As we checked in, we were given room 104. A far cry from the 3rd floor. Decided not to argue as the previous reviews suggested customer service was not a priority. Went to room. Overall, not bad. Newer LVP/tile flooring. Furniture looked newer. King bed (comfortable). I booked a queen room and there was no king bed option when I booked. Bathroom was adequate, really needed a deep clean. As expected, there would be no whale watching from the 1st floor. (we did get to see whales from other locations - yea) Next morning, went to use the shower and the tub faucet diverter was damaged. About 1/3 of the water went to the shower, the rest was a high pressure spray at your feet. Overwhelmed the drain so at the end of your shower, you were standing in 2-3" of water. No guest should walk into a room that has broken equipment. That should all be verified/corrected BEFORE the guest checks in (would not have been a problem if I had the room I tried to book). Best experience was the check-out... done online so no lobby visit needed. This could be a much nicer hotel if the owners chose to maintain it better and manage it in a way that focused on customer service. I will say the best interaction we had was with the young lady cleaning the room. She was kind and helpful. That's how you run a hotel. Will not step foot in this hotel again. Use at own risk.

Poor customer service at check in
Be aware you are charged for your room prior to check in. Then when you make a y sort of comments about it they tell you not to worry about it. They do it all the time because they have had issues with prior guests. Plus we booked a room over a month in advsnce, sent message right then and there, we were bringing a dog. No response. We called no answer. Finally reached them and they stated that they rarely check their email. Upon arrival, they said they were booked up so they placed us on the 3rd floor, with a dog. I can handle all of it but the Attitude at the front desk made it hard to process.

Good stay for us
Always a relaxing and low key stay. The rooms are quiet for being right on the 101 highway. Easy walk right in town to all the things we love in Depoe Bay.

Cobwebs, tub won't drain, and shady customer service.
Cobwebs and standing water in the tub when you shower. Originally booked a suite for us and wasn't told until check-in that the suite doesnt allow dogs. The middle eastern lady (don't listen to the reviews about her English, she is easy to understand but is shady) STILL charged us for suite price and the pet fees while downgrading us in room. I had to visit the room once and go back to the desk to request a refund in price before the difference was refunded. Real shady you'd charge a customer for more when you're blatantly giving them less than promised. Pictures show what we found in the room when we got in too. Also when you book online, check-in says 3pm but its really 4pm. Try to book somewhere else.
