Wonderful Accommodations on the Scenic Southern Oregon Coast!
This is a very unique family owned and operated property with several choices for accommodations. There is the lower priced original section across the street from the beach (where I stayed), a newer wing right on/above the beach and also several individual cabins on/above the beach. Sunset Oceanfront Lodging is located a couple miles south of downtown Bandon on the most scenic and spectacular section of coastline I've ever seen. Upon my late arrival night front desk clerk Sam was there to check me in. He (along with all the staff) are great! Everyone is professional, friendly, informative and helpful. They even include a printed hi/low tide and sunrise/sunset chart for guests upon checkin. Comes in handy for taking the not too be missed sunrise and sunset photos from the beach and it's numerous seastacks! My 2nd floor room was very cozy with pleasant unique lodge style charm and was clean, reasonably priced and had a fantastic view from the front sliding glass door! Room was well appointed with mini fridge/freezer (unfortunately no microwave - at least in my particular room),very fast and free wifi, tv with nice selection of cable channels and coffee maker with selection of local coffee. Bathroom had standup/sitdown shower and was well stocked with toiletries. Daily breakfast is included and has fresh fruit, yogurt, rolls, toast, juice, coffee, trail bars, etc. You can sit in the dining area to eat or take it to go. There is also an indoor heated pool and hot tub. I can't say enough good things about this place. I will definitely stay here when I return to the Bandon, Oregon area! Had a truly wonderful experience during my 2 day stay. Next time I will stay longer! Thanks so much!
Be very careful, dirty and not what you reserve, charge extra for basics
I overpaid by $2000 to stay in a dirty room that was not what I reserved. They are very quietly rude if you ask for general housekeeping and toilet paper. The manager Kyra and her dad Brian like to talk about their problems instead of addressing guest issues, which is very cringe. $4000 for a closet sized room by the sea with no chairs and a sinking mattress, and open wires that spark. They do not offer a desk nor drawers, and completely misrepresented the room and did a "bait and switch". Lighting fixtures are dangerous, and do not use pillows for your own safety The odor is repugnant. Nice view, but not what you pay for. Smells like urine. When I asked for the room I paid for, they asked for $1000.00 more. Be careful get what they promise and don't argue, they will make your stay miserable
family with dog
we were traveling up the cost with our adult son and his old dog Maya. We were ahead of schedule and requested early check in. They were kind enough to call us when the room was ready. We requested a room that we could have the dog with us. The room was very dog friendly. Had a few dog treats, poop bags, old towel blanket and sheet labeled for the dog to us. We very much appreciated that. The room looked rustic with the panelled walls and yellow toilet and tub. The beds were comfortable. We were there in October so did not need A/C. View from room was amazing. Enjoyed the Pool and hot tub, were great for relaxing. All day coffee in the lobby. Friendly staff. free breakfast was minimal but adequate. Great location. We were very happy and will definitely stay again when in Bandon.
Fantastic beach nearby; disappointing motel
Sloppy, sagging beds with old mattresses. No lamps in room. Room lighting dismal with overhead fluorescent bulbs. Aesthetically unattractive. Some of kitchenette's stove burners did not work. Ancient, small TV with 14" screen size seen smaller in width while in bed than your smart phone held in your hand. At least the wifi speed was fast at over 50 mbps. View window (a sliding glass door) toward beach has two options: fully open with no privacy from strangers walking by merely 2 feet away, or fully obscured with blackout curtain. Stairway down to the beach is also sagging with haphazard tread spacing. Hotel's desk clerk however was a gem: helpful and pleasant to talk to.
Great location, nice staff, but very outdated rooms with minimum amenities. When traveling, one has come to expect the basics in a room such as a hairdryer and a mini fridge, not to mention clean carpets and chairs especially after coming off Covid.
