Spectacular ocean view
Sunset Oceanfront Lodging has newly re-decorated, clean rooms with picturesque ocean views and gracious hosts! The ambiance of a fireplace, the views and sounds were all part of a wonderful experience.
Big room, not so great view.
The good first: The room was huge. It was clean and nicely painted. It had a large, very nice gas fireplace. The toilet and shower were in a room separate from the sink. There was a long, L-shaped counter where the sink was and a closet in that area. This space was large too. It had a window and a large sliding glass door. Although fairly narrow, the patio was long and the length of the room. They had two plastic chairs that you could use to sit and look out. The bad: When I made the reservation, the picture showed a building with rooms facing the ocean. It was on the side of a hill with stilts (or whatever they are called) holding part of it up. It had a panoramic view of the ocean. I reserved the room because this is what I thought I was getting. When I got there, the room was actually across the street from the beach and only had a partial ocean view. My direct view was of a building that obscured much of the view. In the space where there was an ocean view, there was a port-o-potty and a chain-link fence. (See picture below). That made taking any pictures useless, although I did for this review. The carpet was weird and looked like the felt on a pool table and the furniture looked old although on second look, it wasn't old, just not that attractive. I didn't care about that but some people might. So, would I stay there again? Maybe, if I was only staying for one night but not if it was longer than that. I was there for three nights. If I went again for any length of time I would probably get a room with a kitchenette as there were very few restaurants in Bandon and the few I went to did not have good food. I had a fun time in Bandon and once you could see the ocean on the other side of the roof and port-o-potty, it was the most beautiful beach I've ever been to. This motel is right across from Face Rock, which you can't see until you get around those buildings but it is spectacular.
Great Views from Ocean Front Rooms!
My OH and I stayed at this hotel for one night on our way down the PCH. We booked an ocean front room for the night, and it was well worth it! The views straight down onto the beach from our room were spectacular. If you love the sea, as we do, opening the sliding door and listening to the sound of the waves is so relaxing! There is direct access to the beach via the stairs so we were able to stroll on the beach in the morning before we checked out. The bed was large and comfortable, I had the best sleep I had had since the start of our trip. We found the staff to be most welcoming and friendly. Breakfast was the usual basic continental we have come to expect while travelling in the US. Cereal, pancakes and breakfast sandwiches (which you reheat in the microwave) coffee, yoghurts and a couple of different types of breads for toasting. Nothing spectacular, but at the same time, it fills a hole so you can get on the road. Lord Bennet's is right across the road if you were looking for somewhere convenient to grab a bite to eat, as we were, but there are many other eateries to consider within a short drive. This hotel is not within walking distance of Bandon and the Old Town, but it is within a 5 minute drive. Personally we preferred to be beside the sea and drive into town, but that will vary from person to person. There is no lift at this hotel so if there may be issues transferring luggage via the stairs make sure you ask for a room that is on the top level. To sum up, while this hotel is not the most modern (think quaint) the location, staff and reasonable price more than make up the difference. We enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay again and recommend the ocean front rooms to anyone travelling to Bandon.
Okay still I believe best place with beach view to stay in Bandon
Room with a view - note not all rooms are beachfront. Right over the beach with views of face rock, cat and kittens etc. Room had been remodeled since last there. Now laminate floors, new paint, definitely improvement. Middle floor with a King. Can be noisy if someone is above you because of the new floors. It is a number of steps down to the beach and of course back up - so not for heart attack cases. Housekeeping is hit or miss, bed and towels great, but misc items (TP, cups, coffee [no TEA] not so much. Still recommended? Absolutely. Just for the view and small but usable patio.
Great Location plus a Very Nice Room
My wife and I only stayed one night, but although this hasn’t been modernized it was reasonably well maintained. We had an upper floor room that ran the full width of the building, so perhaps 40-50’ long by maybe 14’ wide with 3 seating areas. There were separate rooms for the shower/toilet and large closet/sink/coffee area, so nice. We had a partial view of the ocean and Face Rock and other rocks. The room had a fireplace that had been disabled. One odd thing, there were zero user-accessible electric outlets available unless one unplugged a lamp.
