We stayed in one of the older buildings, ocean view. Be sure to carefully study the map and layout of this hotel before booking to avoid confusion and know what you are getting! This property has various buildings that are not connected. Many variety of rooms for all budgets. Some new, some old, some large, some smaller, some right on the beach and others require a staircase for access. Most rooms (not all) have a lovely view and location. We had an older room and prefer it that way--I personally think wood paneling and older tile is unique and quaint, plus it was very clean.
An awesome view.
We just returned from a stay at Sunset Oceanfront Lodging and we couldn't be happier. First off, we stayed in the Vern Brown addition, which is ocean side, not ocean view. We were on the lowest level and were basically on the beach. We only had to go down one more flight of stairs and we were walking on the sand. Each room has a balcony and the views are amazing. Face rock to the south and many other features to the north. These rooms have been updated with wood-look vinyl floors and new tile in the shower and bathroom area. We liked the the sink and countertop area were opposite the bathroom and shower. The furnishing were pretty basic and the room could definitely use a few more pictures or paintings on the wall. But when you have the Pacific Ocean right outside your window, no one will really care. I would not recommend these rooms for anyone with disabilities, unless you stay on the top floor, which is level with the road. It's kind of confusing, but the rooms are on a steep hillside, so the upper floors are easiest to get to, the others require going up and down stairs, there is no elevator. We did not try the light breakfast, since it is in the main hotel, which is down the road. In conclusion, the Vern Brown rooms are great and we look forward to a return visit.
View will be great after construction!
We booked from the pictures on the site, got there and found the view of a fence blocking the view.... I know that they could not help, but should have said something. Stay was good, and room was as indicated... The breakfast was good. The younger lady at the front desk was great, the older lady, somewhat grumpy..... Would recommend if in the area.
Great location right on the beach in a very nice little town....Good staff.....clean.. Odd thing though is there were no screens on the sliding door nor window to the balcony....Flies kept coming in so had to close it later in the day....Just an odd deficiency in such a nice place.
Great place to stay
It was my husbands birthday, and we've been talking about retiring to Oregon, so we made a combined trip to celebrate and to check out the area. Hotel is easy to find and tucked away from the main road. Check-in was fast and easy, and the clerk was very informative. They even give you a paper that accurately describes the high and low tides. The room was very spacious. Our room did not look like most of the pictures offered from other viewers. The room looked updated and very clean, with a decent view of the ocean, which is less than a 5-minute walk to the beach. The room was spotless, and they provide a fridge/microwave, coffee pot, hairdryer, and iron & board. Bathroom (which is very important to me that it be clean and well maintained) was very clean. The only complaint is when we took a shower. The bathroom took on a sour smell. It wasn't the towels as we checked those, seemed to be coming out of the pipes. There was no smell until we took a shower. We just kept the door shut. It was a small matter and won't deter us from staying again. Just want management to know about it. Overall, this place is a great find. Next time, we want to rent one of the cabins on the ocean. They take good care of the grounds and the staff show they care and they are not just there to collect a paycheck. At checkout, the girl who assisted us asked where we were from, and we told her Calif/Bay area. She also just moved to Oregon, and she provided us with a realtor in the area that took care of her. That was very appreciated. We plan to stay here again the next time we come out to Oregon, but, we will fly next time as it was a 9-hour drive from the Bay Area. Your butt is not designed to sit that long...lol. They do offer a continental breakfast of cereal, bread, boiled eggs, and hot breakfast sandwiches. We did not take advantage of this while staying, but it was a nice option.
