Not so sure about this place
Tried to make a reservation over the phone. Left messages. No return call. Had a family member stop by. Greeted by a nice lady that did not speak english but had a translating app on her phone. Thought we were able to make a reservation with her but when we showed up on Christmas Eve the place was deserted. No answer at the office or on the phone. Only 1 car in the parking lot. No other sign of life. It does look like they have tried to improve the street appeal but it will be for naught if you can't make a reservation or even get a room in person.

Don't Stay Here
I stayed at Holiday Motel in Cave Junction, Oregon for five nights over the 4th of July weekend; arrived June 30th and left July 5th. When I arrived it took awhile for one of the managers to come to the motel office after I rang the door bell several times. She was very gracious and pleasant. She said she couldn't remember if towels were put in the room, so she gave me a bunch of blue towels and washcloth. I was given room 10. It is spacious and the bed and furniture nicely arranged. That is about it. Like Eddie Nevin I discovered the couch had a fowl smell to it. It was a hide-a-bed. The couch did not look worn out, but the cushions were. It felt like sitting on a board with your back against a board. The air conditioner in the wall looked to be one of the first ever invented. The two controls looked to be levers to be moved side to side and they did, but the air conditioner did not turn on. The room was hot from the day of high temperatures. Later that evening I tried it again. That time I discovered the on/off switch was a push button. The other button was a lo-medium-high lever. The air conditioner worked then. I turned it off after the room was cooled down. I could not get the large screen T.V. to turn on with the remote. The linen on the bed was just a sheet and a think quilt-like blanket. In the wee hours of the morning, it got cold in the room. I tried to turn on the heater built into the wall, still plugged in. I pushed all the buttons. Nothing. I folded the “blanket” in half to double it up, but that still was not warm enough. It was cold, I did not sleep well. I stopped at the office the next morning to enquire. No answer. Later I saw the managers talking with the resident next door to Room 10. I waited my turn. The woman told me the T.V. is turned on manually and then a person can use the remote. Turns out the batteries were dead. I pointed out the air conditioner “filter” was packed with dust. I told her the heater did not work. She told me that it didn’t, but there was a baseboard heater under the front window. Well, that one did not produce enough heat to keep the room warm either. The “filter”, a thin piece of foam rubber, was cleaned, but the dust in the fins of the air conditioner was not. Fresh batteries were put in the remote control. The WiFi is none existent even though there is a sign at the motel entrance advertising it is free. There was not “maid service” at all during the five-day stay. No clean towels, clean sheets, or making of the bed. I tried to get more blankets by ringing the doorbell. No answer. I called the motel phone number. No answer. Holiday Motel in Cave Junction, Oregon is the worst motel I have ever stayed in. The service is non-existent after they collect your money.

FRIENDLY SERVICE
The room at this motel could have used a deep cleaning. The room was old and tired and kind of a throw back to the sixties. The beds were old but very comfortable but I did have to stuff towels behind the headboard to keep it from banging. The tv was the old school big heavy thing .... no flat screen here!! They had a keurig coffee pot with a selection, lots, of different good coffees. They had also left small wrapped candy beside the coffee...a nice homey touch. There were lots of towels which we appreciated. Of course there was a fridge and microwave. Just outside the door were tables and chairs to sit in and enjoy the outside. As I said it could use some updating and deep cleaning...but it had a good homey feel about it and the family who runs it are an amazing family. I would stay here again.

Updated
Updated since last visit (5 yrs.) If staying in Cave Junction, might be best spot. Friendly staff but only 11 units. Right on Redwood Hwy. so easy access. Roo.s have Direct T.V. and flat screen so that is nice.

No way!
The owners were nice here, but the place is in dire need of updating. Very run down and bedding and carpet was very stained. For $89 a night, I expected much more. The owner was kind to refund our money and we split and drove to a larger town.
