Room had some issues
My son and I stayed at the holiday inn over labor day weekend. We were in room 331. The room itself was clean, the bed was comfortable and clean. It smelled weird and musty though. The bathroom had some issues. For starters, when I walked in, I realized the door had a big chunk of out of it. It was very light weight. Then I looked at the latch on the door, and it was missing. Another thing I noticed was the toilet was dripping constantly. Not like running, but physically dripping inside the bowl. Then when I looked up, there was water damage on the celing. I called down to the front desk to have these things looked at, and when the staff member pulled the toilet cover off, there was black mold all behind the toliet. I'm thinking maybe a leak or something was happening that is causing the mold. After seeing that, I told him I didn't feel comfortable staying in the room with that much mold, he said he could get me a refund. I asked for another room, and he said they were totally booked up so I wouldn't be able to, he could only give me a refund. It was late, and we were 2 1/2 hours from home, and had plans the next day in the area, so we had no choice to go somewhere else without paying. I couldn't afford it as the refund would not be immediate. So we had to stay. I would like to get a partial refund, as they kept us in the room with visable mold that the hotel was aware of. This room had some issues, and for a Holiday Inn Express, I expected more. We have stayed at many of these locations, and I wasn't impressed by the state of our room. I didn't get a picture of the mold because I didn't want to be handling it and getting it on my skin.

Nice place to stay
The rooms were clean. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The kids loved the pool and the pancake making machine at breakfast. The location was just a quick hop to the aquarium, historic Newport and Nye Beach. Free parking. I would definitely stay here again.

Nice quiet stay
My family stayed here for one night during spring break in March. Given the timing, it wasn’t surprising that the hotel was full of families with young children. When I checked in, I requested a room on a high floor, away from the pool and main road. From past experience, I’ve learned that rooms near the pool can be noisy, as the sound of screaming children easily travels through the wall air-conditioner. Thankfully, the front desk clerk accommodated my request, and we had a peaceful and restful stay. The hotel had recently been renovated and felt brand new. Our room was very clean and spacious, with all the amenities we needed. I especially appreciated the mini fridge with a small freezer compartment, which allowed us to refreeze our ice packs. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the shower had excellent water pressure. The free Wi-Fi speed was 41 Mbps down and 17 Mbps up. Overall, our stay was excellent, and I would definitely stay here again when in the area.

Quite decent as most H. Inns are nowadays. A couple of things could be improved however.
The bedding is great. The rooms are modern and clean. There are some negatives however. The pool is tiny and more like a large jacuzzi. Not possible to do laps. Also, the jacuzzi was closed for maintenance. Also, there was no soy or almond milk at breakfast. I must say that the egg-white with veggie omelette was a good addition. Lastly, the gentleman at the front desk needs to develop a personality and a smile. The first person to greet the guests must be cheery and friendly. This guy was like the Frankenstein monster even though he answered a few questions. Overall, the 1 night stay was fine. Howard S.

Newly renovated Holiday Inn Express Newport is wonderful!
We booked and stayed for just one night at this Holiday Inn Express in Newport, Oregon. We arrived a little early for check-in but we were very kindly accommodated anyway. I had a really pleasant experience with the front desk person, who happened to be the new General Manager learning the ropes at her new hotel. She is going to be a real asset to this hotel, I can tell that right away. This Holiday Inn Express has recently been renovated and it shows in all the aspects of the operation. The room was sparkling clean, and had 2 queen beds, a big-screen TV, a desk and chair, mini-refrigerator and a small microwave. The bathroom was beautifully done and everything worked perfectly. We had breakfast the next morning in their dining room and it was wonderful. I absolutely love those cinnamon rolls!! Also, every single employee that I encountered at this Holiday Inn was fantastic. All of the room cleaners were gracious and warmly welcoming and the man who worked the breakfast room was an excellent icon of hospitality...offering help to whoever looked like they might need it. I will be back to this hotel again!!
