Mixed Experience
Our eleven-day stay at Cannery Pier Hotel revealed its stunning location and unique design reminiscent of Astoria's cannery history, yet we encountered notable service shortcomings, especially in housekeeping and dining. Accommodation and Housekeeping Issues: While the room's nautical aesthetics were charming, housekeeping was disappointingly inconsistent. Despite using the "out exploring" door hanger and multiple communications with the front desk, our room was frequently uncleaned until late afternoon, disrupting my toddler's nap schedule. The lack of thorough cleaning became evident as the room was not vacuumed until day nine, upon our explicit request, and used dishes from the hotel bar remained uncollected even after we were assured by the front desk that it was housekeeping's responsibility. Complimentary items like water and chocolates were also irregularly replenished. Dining Experiences: Breakfast at the hotel was a hit or miss, with the made-to-order omelet standing out amidst generally stale other offerings. Our experience at Bar 600 was underwhelming; the Dungeness crab dip was not only scant but accompanied by stale and moldy vegetables. Our feedback about the poor quality seemed to go unheeded, as no apology or compensation was offered. Child-Friendliness and Service Response: The hotel’s suitability for children was compromised by the absence of essential amenities like a microwave, complicating meal preparations for my toddler. The overall response to our repeated concerns, from housekeeping discrepancies to dining disappointments, lacked the proactive and attentive service recovery one would expect from a hotel of this caliber. Overall, while the Cannery Pier Hotel boasts a picturesque setting and historical charm, these positives were overshadowed by frustrating service inconsistencies, making it a challenging environment for families, particularly those with small children. Better assurance of service standards is crucial for considering a future stay.

Amazing
Amazing, our room was so comfortable, with a beautiful view. We were able to catch a few large ships passing by our window. Amazing staff, we especially enjoyed happy hour with complementary wine and snacks. The spa was a treat, we used the sauna which was lovely and our spa treatments were heavenly.

Astoria’s finest hotel hands down
Everything about this place is spot on. The staff are courteous and engaging, the ambiance and views are some of the finest and the entire hotel and our rooms are impeccably clean. I am very particular about cleanliness and proper maintenance of the common grounds, and this hotel is one of the finest I have seen. Our room was comfortable and quiet, with upscale linens and Aveda bath products, and the river and bridge view is truly outstanding.

Exceeded our expectations and excells above Fairmont Gold rooms
We were drawn to Astoria because the Columbia River starts at Columbia Icefields in Alberta and staying in a converted cannery where it empties into the Pacific was compelling. We thought it would be like Waterfall in Alaska where we went fishing but were amazed at Astoria, the bridge, the Little San Francisco streets, Astoria Column, the walkway along the docks and most of all the Cannery Pier Hotel. Rene was our first contact by telephone when we were two hours away and she made a connection with us as she knew where we live near Lumsden, Saskatcehwan. She made short work of our booking and we were set. The location is perfect right off the bridge after coming across from Washington. The hotel staff were welcoming and showed us around the breakfast room and 600 Bar. Our room had amazing views expecially from the balcony when a ship sailed under the bridge and past our room into the Pacific. The room iwas tastefully decorated and well thought out with everything you use logically placed and functional. Guest Services are supreme from Happy Hour to evening cookies. Breakfast was the sendoff that makes you want to stay longer and come back again. All staff we met were helpful and friendly from the front desk to servers and limo driver. They make everyone feel like family!
