Great Place to stay
We stayed two nights at the Best Western Pierpoint Inn, Florence Oregon on our recent CA & OR coastal tour. It was overlooking the Siuslaw River. The restaurants, fast food places, and shopping were on the north side of the river. The hotel was nice and the employees were friendly. Our room was comfortable, clean and in good repair. It was also quite roomy, with a couch, coffee table and desk, and a nice balcony overlooking the river, bridge and city. The complementary breakfast was adequate, but did include made-to-order omelets if you so chose. I was disappointed that they did not have yogurt, half and half, or whole milk to put with my granola cereal—having only 2% milk & skim milk—with no explanation why not. Otherwise, our stay there was quite nice. The location was also convenient for our tour's activities, at the Sandland Adventures, Sea Lion Caves, and the Heceta Head Lighthouse. If you are unable to do stairs, let them know so they can situate you in a ground floor room, as there are stairs and no elevators. There were personnel available to assist with luggage if needed.

For the Love of Florence
I did not stay at the Best Western Pier Point, however, dinner and stroll in Old Town Florence was delightful. Dinner at Restobar restaurant (Italian Food) was the best of the best. Siuslaw river was enchanting, see the architectural design of the Siuslaw bridge. Take photos by the beautiful waterfront

Some quirks and a mystery
Immediately across the historic bridge from the charming and lovely town of Florence. When I checked in, I could not get into the room - the security latch was closed from the inside, although no one was inside the room. No one could figure out how that happened or how to fix it. The balcony door was locked. No other rooms were available. There was no maintenance person on duty at the hotel. Finally an enterprising and helpful young man at the desk jury-rigged a clever way to throw the latch open with an old key card. I was delayed a half hour getting into the room. My top-floor balcony view of the river and the town was mostly obscured by trees, so you couldn't see much. The breakfast buffet was good, with omelets. Note: there is NO elevator in this hotel. Limited rooms for people with mobility challenges. If you need an elevator, specify that when making the reservation.

Out dated and management unfriendly
Worst experience here. ADA not up to code and management wouldn’t give us a room on the ground level even though my husband is a disabled vet and currently on crutches after breaking his foot. Said they were completely booked. Yet after the second night there, the night of the Fourth of July, the fireworks caused our puppy who’s in training to be a service animal to bark which caused our service animal to bark which we knew was timid around fireworks. We had no idea they’d be throwing them off close to the hotel as no one said anything and apparently guests were complaining that they were barking and apparently management had room to move these people around to accommodate them and we were charged $150 fee. So either they lied to us when we got there and said the hotel was full, or they lied to us and saying that they had to move people around to accommodate them for our dog barking. Either way they liars and do not accommodate disabled veterans who are on crutches

Forgotten item
Make sure to triple check your room before checking-out so not to leave anything behind. Because you will never get that item/s back nor the Hotel staff or Manager will ever return your call! Average room without a view for an outrageous rate!!!!
